2004. Pours a light honey copper in color, almost a pinkish hue, clear, barely a skirmish of white bubbles appears and just as quickly is gone. Aroma shows some great malty sweetness, sweet berries and raisins, also some lemons, oakiness, white wine notes, grapes, and mustiness. Taste follows with a decent dose of honey sweetness, sweet raisins are also evident, a good dose of oakiness, grape, lemons, hay, and vinegar rush in and take over the sweet flavors. Mouthfeel is medium in body, a very nice blend of weight from the malts and puckery tartness and drying finish. A very delicious beer, the balance of sweet and tart are very nice, a quite complex aroma and taste are pleasing throughout.

37.5cl bottle served in a (small) Westy 12 chalice
Bottle No. 007939
Vintage: 2004 (the one and only!)
A: Medium copper. A few bubbles for a head on medium pour. "Vin De Céréale" cork, etched box, and wrapped bottle make the presentation of this top-notch.
S: Mix of caramel, cherries, and vinegar. Touch of tannins, leather, and soft oak. ABV is very well hidden on this.
T: Follows smell beautifully! Rounded cherry tartness, tannins, and vinegar. Touch of oak, caramel, and soft green apple. Again, ABV is hidden and almost non-existent.
M: Medium bodied with very soft carbonation.
O: A very nice, enjoyable, and rounded beer. Smell and taste are quite deep and complex. Has stood the test of time and I think it will continue to hold up quite well. Tasty brew!

I was lucky enough to score a bottle of this at de heren van liedekerke. Poured from the bottle into a goblet.
Appearance: Pours a clear amber with a layer of off white head that disappears completely.
Smell: This beer is very sweet and malty. Some fruit and caramel notes along with a slight tartness. Almost like a tart barleywine, this one seems different from anything else I've tried.
Taste: Follows closely from the smell. Bitter and rather malty. Bread and sweet caramel notes along with a red berry tartness. There is no funky or mineral type note, just a slight tartness. The tartness carries the beer to the finish and there is no alcohol to be found at this point.
Mouthfeel: Medium body with mild carbonation and a dry finish.
Overall: This was a weird one for me. Not a bad beer at all, just very different. I liked it, but I don't think I would trade the cellar to get another.

375ml bottle into a goblet. Bottle #5987 from 2004, purchased to go at De Heeren van Liedekerke and enjoyed in a Brussels back yard. Good times.
A: Clear, deep orange-amber body; almost flat, but a few fine tan bubbles dot the surface, forming a light web of delicacy. Nice.
S: Incredible, intoxicating sweet/sour aroma of balsamic vinegar, oak, toffee, and some tart cherry and pear fruitiness. Rich, big, and absolutely amazing.
T: Ho. Ly. Shit. The most amazing melange of sweet malt and tart acetic fruitiness I could possibly imagine. The flavors are huge and yet perfectly balanced, strong and yet impeccably smooth on the finish. No trace of alcohol. Flanders Red perfection.
M: Slick, sticky, full-bodied, and very lightly carbonated. Heavy, but appropriate.
O: This one only took one sip to make me think "5!". One of the most incredible beers of my life. If the brewery ever makes this again I'll buy a case.
Cheers!

Pour is an apple juice looking amber with no head. The nose is of green apple, sweet caramel malt, light vinegar, sour cherries and light acetic acid. Flavor follows the nose, sweeter and brighter cherries and less acetic. Creamy medium to full body with decent carbonation. Rather sweet and a touch vinegary with light carb to balance.
