Sleepy Dog Hefeweisen: On tap at a resort in Phoenix, served with a orange. Straw color and a thin head produced a faint aroma but was masked by the accompanying orange slice. Standard wheat beer in flavor and texture. Good local rendition of a style I greatly enjoy. Probably better without the orange slice attached.

I poured this from a 22oz bottle into a globe glass, not the proper Hefe glass but it works. The head is bone white with tiny champagne like bubbles. Right away the aroma carries a sweet bready yeast smell to your nose.
The immediate taste is a bit sour/tart citrus on the tongue and the mouth feel is a little watery. But then the sweet bananas and clove flavors customary for this style of wheat beer carry through. The finish is a nice mixture of sweet from the bready, banana, and clove flavors and the slight tartness from the beginning leaving a nice balanced taste.
This beer is very refreshing and leaves your taste buds desiring more and more, it may actually be a little too easy to down a couple glasses of this. It is fairly low in abv though, so it is not too dangerous to slam a few!

Poured into a Pilsner glass. Pretty orange/yellow colored and unfiltered looking. Small one finger bright white head.
Smell is earthy or grass and soggy bread. Sweet malts and tartness, maybe from the hops.
Taste is tart, kinda lemony. There are the bready, hay notes of a hefe. Malt taste is Pilsner like. Not the disappointment I was expecting. Rather refreshing.
Mouth is as a Hefe should be. It is a summer refresher. A bit on the watery side, but not off for the style.
Overall I must say I am pleasantly surprised. I do not like this style at all, but did enjoy this one. There is also no way this brew will draw me away from the IPA's, DIPA's, Stouts and Double Stouts, but I do know there is a decent choice brewed right here in my home state that I can float down the river drinking. Thanks to Kevin for the sample.

Not my favorite style of beer, but I enjoyed this. Light cloudy with a nice white head with some lacing. Nice floral smell reminiscent of a Belgian beer. Nice smooth taste, and I can really taste the banana and some citrus. A little bitterness on the back end, but I am enjoying the strong hints of banana. More compley than a straight up Hefe like the Widmer.
