Notes:
A gentle amber giant, with an alcohol nose. It’s so big, we can only serve you a small amount. It's aged over eighteen months and it won’t be around long—there are rescues to be made, you know.

Nice amber, light red color with a small head. Nice dark fruit flavors- raison, plum, with a good but not overpowering hoppiness. I am a bit suprised how drinkable this beer is. It is one of the better barley wines I have had- if you get a chance to drink this on tap- do it.

At the brewery, on tap. Bartender says it's about a year old.

App - clear deep copper, no head.
Aroma - intensely malty, with plummy fruit and subdued (only in comparison) hops. There are hints of age/oxidation, but
definitely acceptable considering it's age.
Flavor - sweet malt with significant, balancing bitterness. Hop flavor must be subdued with age but still definitely there. A candy note is here, that I've found in a few of their other beers.
Mouthfeel - full, warming, with slight astringency (from the hop load?)
Overall - very nice. Not exceptional, but definitely worth 10 oz pour.

A: clear amber-laced crimson with a sticky, frothy half-finger tan head that eventually becomes a thin ring that doesn't adhere much. Allowable, at over ten percent alcohol.

S: Fruit juicy. Grape and cranberry, peanuts, a bit of lime and some other tangy citrus.

T: light grape juice again, vodka, a bit of something metallic, peanut skins, caramel, toffee, toast. Sweet mid-palate, but dryish, bitter and slightly tangy and more roasted at the finish.

M: medium-bodied, smooth and subtly carbed.

D: Not my favorite from Sleepy Dog, who often trends toward sweetness in their beers. It is, however, an interesting take on your average barleywine.
