This is the best Irish red ale I have ever had. The Hilton Garden Inn in Avondale, AZ pours this in a pint glass. This deep reddish beer has an excellent tan colored head. The aromas of sweet malt remind me of the "maltas" I drank as a kid. This heavy bodied but creamy ale has flavors of caramel, sweetness, with a slight bitter finish that does not linger long. Highly recommend this beer.

Brought home a growler and it sat in my beer fridge for a day and a alf, then split it into pint glasses and drank w a buddy.
A - Slightly cloudy brownish-red body, a little watery ring of foam tries to hang on down the glass but doesnt do much.
S - Nutty sweet malt, a little caramel and just the slightest trace of smoke.
T - Very malty, high in the sweet range. Theres some clover and a bit of smoky nuttiness, like roasted pecans or cashews.
M - A little watery, unremarkable, but it is easy drinking because of it and it leaves a smooth finish. Feels more like a 5.0ABV beer to me, so kudos for that.
O - Actually a pretty good offering I think, it'd pair up good with the food they've got at the east valley location and I'll probably do that next time...

Poured into my Surly Pint glass. Very dark red, or mahogany in color. Head is a small two fingers and frothy tan. Lace doesn't look to wanna stick around, and really doesn't.
Smell is very yeast and grass. There are aromas of tart cherry and just a bit sweet.
Taste is just a bit better than the smell. The yeast isn't as prevalent but the insane tart is still there.
The mouth is very watery. This is like drinking a glass of water filled to the top with maraschino cherries. Very dry from the tart and empty from the water.
Overall I was really disappointed with this. I really loved this brewers Hefe and figured I'd love this. Not the case. Thanks though to Kevin for the sample.

Poured into a shaker pint.
Smoking jacket maroon. Dark yet clear, it fades to burnt orange at the edges. The one-finger head of thick, creamy froth is colored sandy tan and sticks like glue, refusing to recede.
Malty nose. Caramel, some toffee, fruity red apple, earthy hops. Leans toward the sweet side.
The flavor exhibits a similar apple fruitiness, this time with a blend of green and red drizzled in caramel. Some toasted bread and graham cracker are also in there, along with very light earthy hops that impart no bitterness. It quickly fades to a fairly clean finish, though there are lingering notes of toffee.
The body is a fluffy delight. Super soft, medium, with gentle massaging bubbles. It’s like drinking whipped cream.
Great body and decent flavor. For an Irish red, this isn’t bad at all.

Nice red amber coloring with an off white head and minimal lacing. Nutty aroma, smooth mello taste. Don't really taste the alcohol in this. Not super complex or malty, but an easy drinking even beer with a light nutty flavor and minimal hoppiness. I am a little confussed by the low ratings on this- it is a pretty decent beer.

I really don't get why they call this a Irish Ale. The beer is much more Scottish in style. Color was dark red, good carbonation and mouthfeel. Flavor was super strong caramel malt with perhaps even a hint of smokiness. Beer was too heavy to be a Irish Ale.

I'm not sure what this beer is trying to be. Is it, as another reviewer suggests, a little brother to the scotch ale? It's almost as strong, but with a different malt balance that leaves it just sugary sweet, and strangely thin for a beer of its strength. It's not bad, but it's not really good, either. It is reddish, with almost no head. The aroma is strangely lacking, and the mouthfeel is syrupy and warm. I'm not user I'll finish the sample glass - it's not good enough for the alcohol budget it'll cost.

Darker than expected, with a short head served in a shaker pint. Not to excuse the beer, but the glass does it no favors. Lacing is absolutely nil. Not too good.
Faintly sweet caramel aroma, hinting towards continental hops and brewing salts. Flavor follows suit, with a poor yeast strain that just barely makes it into beer territory. Roasted malts, as advertised, poke up their heads, but retreat like artillery targets as a thin and sour finish comes roaring through. Mercifully short finish. Pass on this one until they add some more ingredients to their mash. Under-cooked.

A pint at the Main Ingredient in Phoenix.
Dark brown-red, starts with a small creamy head that quickly fades and is hard to reproduce. Little to no lace. Caramel malt aroma. A little carbonation up front and a little roasted malt in the middle. The most salient feature, however, is the thin body and somewhat sour finish. Hardly any hops to speak of. This one was hard to finish.

Experienced on tap at the brewpub. Light reddish colour, some lace. Buttery mouthfeel, so not too drinkable for me. This is the Scottie with a minor change or two, and of course avoidable. Would need more malt melange to make it interesting. RIght now it leaves a light sourness.
