Pretty cool set up and building. Open layout, and floor plan. Lots of bricks and windows.
Food was about average for a pub, nothing great.
Personally I do not like their beer. I think they all taste over produced and watered down. Beer selection was nothing to write home about, maybe two special brews you can't find in the local liquor store.
Service was good, better than the average pub.
Overall, nothing fancy. Seemed like more of a family friendly joint/chain restaurant than a craft brew pub. If you are in the TC area and have the time, stop by. If your hurried, check out Right Brain Brewery instead.

I'm pretty up in the air about North Peak pub. It has a real corporate feel to me. I didn't feel as though the restaurant and bar had alot of character.
It's got a great location though, right on the intersection of two very busy TC streets, not far from the Warehouse district and Right Brain brewing. It's an old manufacturing building possibly, so it has a very open floor plan with tall ceilings, fairly industrious feeling. The staff were mostly younger people, who didn't really go out of their way to make you feel comfortable.
The beer was OK, I'm not a huge fan of that product either. Nothing outstanding, but nothing horrible. Just your average brew pub beer available nowadays.
Didn't try the food.

The menu did a great job of putting a signature twist on local fare, i.e. Lake Michigan Whitefish and cherries. I had whitefish encrusted with honey mustard pretzels. It was good combination, but a dish that just about anyone could prepare.
The beer menu only had a few options that you cannot find in stores. They did have a cask option, which was nice.
The restaurant is large and open, with an open window into the kitchen. The place is loud and boisterous, but in a good way. It isn't crowded; just a happening place.
A cool feature of the place is the Irish pub beneath the restaurant where you can have a drink while you wait for a table. They buzz you when your table is ready, allowing you to relax at a bar instead of an entryway.
I would absolutely recommend going to North Peak if you are near Traverse City and are a fan of their beer.

We visited North Peak while vacationing in Traverse City during the Cherry Festival. The atmosphere was great. Kind of an upper class brewery/restaurant. Kind of a similar feel to New Holland Brewing Co.
I ended up ordering a beer sampler so I could try a little of everything. Most of the beers were great beers, not exceptional, but pretty darn good beers.
The food however was indeed exceptional. Their cheddar ale soup is a must try. It is a combination of creamy, salty, & cheesy goodness that is fantastic.I also tried their Reuban, which was exceptional as well.
Overall we had a great experience at North Peak.

Stopped in here last night with the family while on vacation in Traverse City.
Walked in and it was pretty busy for a Monday night. Great setup, awesome décor, very neat restaurant. I ordered a Caesar salad and the Ruben. Both were fantastic and the fries were damn good too. I ordered the Diabolical and also their Mission Point Porter (called North Peak Porter on this website).
Both were solid beers, but nothing special (I’ve really only been impressed with North Peak’s Black IPA thusfar).
Overall an enjoyable experience with great food, atmosphere, and beer. Would go back here again.
I will say, I wish they had a few more beers on tap, but that's really it. Service was as expected.

We stopped here on a recent trip through Traverse City. Excellent variety on tap, including a very good cask conditioned Red ale. We shared a pizza which was very tasty as well as a couple of beers. Food was good, although it was a bit loud in the place. We liked the fact that it had several televisions that you could watch while eating. We did not go to the Irish pub in the basement, however. Overall, we really liked the atmosphere and enjoyed every beer we tried from North Peak. We had both the Fury IPA and standard IPA, the special Red that was on cask, and a stout, all of which were solid brews.

I stopped here with the family for lunch on vacation and liked the place. NPBC is more of a restaurant than a ber/brewery, but I left satisfied. I tried the sampler and the beer was good - not great. I liked the fact that they had a good range of beers from golden ales to cask brews. The food was not great - my burger was overcooked, but the waitress was nice. She didn't know a ton about the beers but was kind enough to go and as the brewer. I wish I could have tried more beers as they had a great selection (lots of beers that have yet to be reviewed).

The best brewpub in Northern Michigan. No question. North Peak has a great selection of really adventurous hand crafted ales. The Cask selection has been really good, and the rotating taps are always unique. I've also tried some of their seasonals that are only offered in the bottle and they were amazing. Furry Black IPA, and Vicious Wheat IPA were particularly good! I visit Traverse City often, and I always stop at North Peak. It is a definite favorite! It is also very rare to find a Brew Pub that has so many amazing beers, and also has an exceptional menu and a really cool atmosphere. I can recommend with 100% confidence!

This is a brewpub/restaurant (but more of a restaurant) in downtown Traverse City. There is a large wraparound bar and several TVs, giving it a sports bar look as well. There were not that many taps on when I was there (maybe 8 at most but I think there were less than that) and all were the basic beer styles (amber, pale ale, stout, etc). The beer was not that great either. I ordered a pizza and it was pretty tasty, so at least there was that. But overall, not a beer destination (definitely just go to Right Brain and skip Mackinaw and North Peak, unless you are in Traverse City for a long time and are running out of things to do).

Day two of our fifth Big Beer Adventure took us to Traverse City. While the main objective was Right Brain, the convenient colocation of North Peak meant that we could not ignore it, even if we felt no overwhelming urgency to visit. Having visited, we understand the original sentiment.
While the building itself is charming and industrial archeology, not far from the water front, the interior is rather bland and, it must be said, more along the lines of TGIF. I'm always a bit suspicious when large plasma TVs play too prominent a role in the decor.
We confess to not giving the complete beer list a fair shot but rather based our critique on a couple of pours; that and the somewhat defensive disinterest of the bartender. He seemed rather offended by my observation that the imperial red needed to be a bit warmer (not a negative statement but merely one saying I think I will like it better as it warms up).
Given that Traverse City is a big vacation town, or so it seems, i imagine that a lot of business comes from occasional visitors rather than a hardcore base. I couldn't imagine being a regular there myself.
