Served in a pint glass.

Clear and brown with a white head that showed a nice retention.

It had some roastiness in the nose.

Not very hopped, a nice roasted sweetness. Not complicated and easy to drink.

It was medium bodied and smoothly carbonated.

This beer's a decent sessioner.

A - Poured out a dark brown color with a one-finger, tan head of foam. It left some sudsy trails of lace on the glass.

S - Aroma is rich caramel malt and a touch of chocolate. Maybe some toffee, too.

T - Rich malty base with light chocolate and caramel flavors. There is a slightly nutty presence.

M - It was crisp, sharp and smooth. A light to medium bodied ale with a clean, dry finish.

O - This straddles the line between English and American brown. It is good and sessionable.

Pours a black color. 1/4 inch head of an off-white color. Great retention and great lacing. Smells of oatmeal, sweet malt, and slight yeast. Fits the style of an English Brown Ale. Mouth feel is sharp and crisp, with an average carbonation level. Tastes of sweet malt, oatmeal, and hint of hops. Overall, a rather average English Brown Ale.

Pours a deep brown and amber with a little bit of a watery kind of viscosity to it, lack of head retention as we a bit concerned.
Aroma was almost non-existent, very mild, almost dead notes of some chocolate and caramel. Concern #2 noted.
Flavor is actually better, mellow and soft chocolate with just a hint of some hops. Rather mundane but certainly drinkable.
Mouthfeel was thin, very thin as was expected. Not unpleasant just didn't have any characteristics of a well-made and enjoyable brew. Very mundane.
Drinkability was very average, has really nothing overly bad characteristics, just lacks any really memorable or solid ones. Pretty much a yawner.

A clear brown beer with tiny bubbles shooting around. It loses carbonation very quickly. This beer was virtually odorless - perhaps the result of the bar setting.

Taste is a nice bready bitter flavor balanced with nutty after thought at the end of the flavor. Not a bad beer by any means.

I had this on tap at the Best of the Midwest Brewer's Festival here in Kansas City. It pours a dark brown, and has a nice light brown head. Lacing is persistent and long lasting, even on a humid, 80 degree day. Taste is fantastic, it is nutty, chocolatey and coffee-like. This was my favorite beer out of several dozen at the fest. Best served slightly cool rather than ice cold, and it changes character as it warms. Solid work, very unique and tasty brew.

This interesting brown ale varies in color from very dark at the top of the glass to a lighter caramel color at the bottom. A thin lace follows the liquid down the sides of the glass and gives off a sweet heavy nutty aroma. The initial flavor is of chocolate malt with a building nut flavor. The body is very smooth and quite heavy. This is a very tasty good brew.

I bought a growler on the way out of Kansas City... It was placed in a cooler bag with other cold beers for the three hour trip. I opened it about an hour after arriving in Omaha. Roughly four hours after the pour...

Appearance was ok. Not much of a head and little lacing.
Deep brown and amber, looks a bit thin.

Smell is good... malt and grain. A touch of alcohol.

Mouthfeel is thin, just as it looks.

Taste is decent. Malt and a tiny, tiny bit of chocolate.

I ended up wishing I'd gotten a growler of something else.

There isn't a lot to say about this beer. It is a very ordinary beer. Nothing stood out enought to talk about. What really turn me off here was the very prickly carbonation and a slight metalic after taste. It dosn't taste bad, but certain not goo either.
