A hazy lazy amber colored ale. With a rather aggressive pour I wasnn't able to produce much of a foamy crown. The crown is a slight beige color and leaves some sticky lacing. That being said the appearance is rather plain and boring. Aroma is toasted caramel malts with a light hop bouquet. Hop essence seems all over the place. Taste, yeah pretty good. There is sweet malts providing a nice balance to the hops. Hops have a nice citrus and floral taste. Not as flavorful as one might expect. I need to pay more attention to usable date. Taste is a little weak across the board. This beer is smooth and easy drinking, it's only lightly bitter. With the exception of the appearance this is a really fine ale.

A: Pours a lovely clear, amber with a significant head composed of large bubbles. A thin layer of head remains throughout the session and laces nicely.
S: One whiff discovers a sharp and ferrous aroma with a tinge of rock-candy sweetness.
T: A faint and subtle, malty sweetness is soon overcome by a sharp iron-oxide tartness that lingers, and curls the tongue, long after each sip.
M: Initially full to the point of thickness, each sip dissolves into a carbonated fizz.
O: Perhaps my sample is too old. I can't imagine that anyone would taste this and say, "Yeah, iron!" But that's what this thing tastes like: a semi-sweet, thick-n-fizzy, rusted, cast-iron, beer. This is why freshness labels are so important. I'm willing to give Breckenridge the benefit of the doubt and call this one over-ripe. I hope that is the case.... otherwise this beer is supremely sub-par.

Bottle: Poured a dark orangey/amber color ale with a medium size foamy head with good retention and minimal lacing. Aroma of bitter citrus notes with semi sweet malty notes is quite nice. Taste is a mix between some semi-sweet malt backbones which is fuller then expected with some citrus notes and a medium bitter finish. Body is quite full with good carbonation. Hops profile is not as explosive as I would have been expected with more residual sugar then I usually like in my IPA.
