Poured from a brown 12 oz. bottle. Has a dark bronze color with a 1/2 inch head. Smell has some malts and alcohol. Taste is dominated by alcohol, a bit of malts, very boozy and unbalanced. Feels light in the mouth and overall not terrible, but a bit to strong alcohol taste for my liking.

A - poured into a tumbler with relative clarity. not much head and little retained. some carbonation moving thru glass
S - mild hoppiness, slight skunk but not a bad skunk
T - not overbearing - pretty good balance of flavors that would seem to go good w/ any food paring
M - carbonation not overbearing - pretty smooth
O - my overall is higher than any of the original ratings because I felt this was a very nicely balanced beer

Appearance: Dark.
Smell: Some honey; a bit malty. A bit like Spaghetti-Ohs?
Taste: Malty. light honey. Some hops.
Mouthfeel: Smooth.
It has the slight smell of honey while you sip, and then you taste the malt backed by hops. It's obviously not quite bitter and is enjoyable and refreshing.
Overall, it's a pricey and decent ale. I probably would not get it again.

Picked this up via the single bottle in Totowa. I thought that this would be an ESB but as it turned out, it was a bit darker and fuller than a typical one would be. That being said, this was just as a good as any Scotch Ale from overseas and exceptionally well-balanced, while packing just a bit of a punch through everything.
The pour was a nice almond that was nearly clear, with a tan head that had enough body to it. Lots of toasted malt and almond in the nose and with a bit more in the taste, This almost felt like a toasted Vienna Lager with just a bit more of a creamy body to it that felt just a bit more like bread in the aftertaste. The carbonation was spot on and added to the drinkability of this beer. This is so good that the caramel in it can only be felt in taste but not in body, as there was no stickiness of heaviness to this.
To be fair, this was a bit strong, but perfect for the style. By the end of the bottle, I could certainly feel the alcohol and it went well with the slight earthy hoppiness that was present after each sip. While this felt more like an ESB than a Scottish Ale to me, I enjoyed it a lot and felt like it could match up with anything else currently on the shelf. Regardless of style, this was quite a pleasant surprise.

Poured from a 12oz. bottle into a standard pint glass.
Dark brown in color, with a moderate head of light tan foam.
Aroma-Toasted malt, faint caramel
Taste-Toasted malt, caramel note, faint citrus rind, herbal hops. Creamy, with flavorfull malts and an interesting spiciness. A tasty offering.

Poured into a pint glass.
A: Hazy dark red-brown with one-finger, off-white, creamy head that lasted a couple minutes and left a nice film. Pretty good lacing.
S: Caramel malt and dark fruit. Plums.
T: Light to moderate sweetness and moderate bitterness. Toasty and somewhat roasted caramel malt. Hints of chocolate. Earthy hops.
M: Medium bodied with fizzy carbonation. Smooth and slightly warm going down.
O: Nice drinkable Scottish Ale.
