This classic American amber ale blends pale, chocolate, and caramel malts to create a well-rounded, flavorful beer. Caramel malts lend whispers of toffee and an enjoyable sweetness, while a touch of bittering hops gives this beer its clean finish. Crafted for balance, Avalanche is a versatile and satisfying anytime beer.

Picked up a single of this in a variety six-pack from Root Cellar. I thought I'd try something new, so here we go. Nice label on this one. Freshness date on left side of label, but nothing was notched - so, no idea on the age of this one.

Pours a cloudy, reddish brown with an average tan head. Foam doesn't stick around long, leaving a thin haze of foam which thickens into the shape of a halo around the edges of my snifter.

Smells of sweet malts, caramelized sugars and light spice picked up. Rather simple, sweet nose overall.

Much like the nose... Slight nuttiness picked up, as well. Almost like an almond quality in the semi-sweet malty mix. This beer is light to medium bodied, medium flavored and has ample carbonation on the mouthfeel.

Nice, but average and a bit watery at times.

Pint at the Westside Taphouse in West Salem Oregon.
$7.00.
Pours a lovely deep chestnut brown..with a small tan head.
Malty nose of course. Light chocolate and sweet tobacco.
Taste again malty but not too sweet. Good
Really nice mouth feel to this one . smooth yet carbonated.
A nice throwback to the early days of craft beer.
Enjoying on a nice Oregon Autumn evening.

Picked up in a mixed pack from this Colorado brewer. Sweet nose with abundant caramel malt sweetness. Texture is balanced and holds the edge. This could use a little more balance, but it satisfies the basic requirements of the style reasonably well. Not my favorite style but adequate at the very least.

Appearance: Clear amber, small off white head, small amount of lacing.
Aroma Caramel malts, a light touch of caramel malts, a lighter touch of vanilla.
Taste: Grainy, toffee-ish sweetness, Some floral, spicy hops add a semblance of balance.
Mouthfeel: A bit thin on the tip of the tongue but fuller as it heads for the throat.
Overall: Maybe not an exceptional Amber, but it is a fair value.

Dark amber body, clear; excellent carbonation; relatively thin head, bone colored and fairly lasting overall. Gentle, toasted grain aroma; very light caramel; very, very light pine note. Nice body; medium.

This is a beer I would have thought I'd had before (and may have, but not during my BA existence). Anyway, I don't find myself drinking as many Breckenridge beers as I used to, but this one is a nice reminder that this old school craft brewery still makes some nice beers.

Pouring temperature: 44 °F; canning info: 25JAN23 (i.e., best before date)
