Stopped here on my way back from UP NORTH. As I walked through, I realized, this was only my 2nd different Trigs...and I was quite happy to find different selections.. Lots of different craft beers [from Three Floyds to Weyerbacher] as well as a good selection of locals [New Glarus, other random locals]. I ended up picking up some Dale's Pale Ale and Blithering Idiot. Had I not already spent a good deal of $ a few days earlier, I'd probably had walked out with much more. This is a definite stop when in the area though! Good selection, decent prices.

The best beer selection in Point, with an entire wall devoted to craft brew (it's a big wall, to clarify). Choices from the east and west coast, with an emphasis on Wisconin microbrew. Hits heavy on the staples of breweries from out-of-state, but has a variety of beers from most of the WI breweries. Decent sixer mixer selection, but seems to have more macro choices than it should. Beers are displayed with the BA rating, which is not something that I personally support but people who are not beer geeks might appreciate. Reasonabally priced and the service has always been pretty good.

When I use to live in central Wisconsin this was the best place to go for beer. The variety is endless. Being able to choose from a wide variety of craft and foreign beer is great. If they dont carry something your looking for im sure you could ask them to get it since they already have a wide variety of beer. The mix and match 6 pack is a great selection. With a mixture of craft and foreign beers. It is a little more expensive to mix your own 6 pack, but then you get to try some new things instead of getting an entire 6 pack of it.

my summer 2010 visit didn't leave me as blow away as last summer's. more stock was out of date this time; for instance, i was excited to find prima pils, but it was several months past its own best buy date (which might be optimistic to begin with). service is friendly but not necessarily knowledgeable. the selection is better than most places in the region, though, and i was able to get some weyerbacher brews that i don't currently have access to in my area. it is also nice to be able to buy singles of some things, like la fin du monde, that around my town have to be purchased in 4-packs. still, the price of the singles is a bit jacked up and the selection does not extent to a great % of the store, making me absolutely wistful about places like wine warehouse (jacksonville) where you can buy singles of anything, and with no additional "hey it's a single, buddy" markup. and at cellar 70 the prices of multipacks are no bargain either. old stock ale for example is 12 bucks a 4-pack--last year i was buying it in FL for 8, so i'll wait. and there were several belgian style brews that i would like to try but 15/4-pack is just too much. even the ommegang was too pricy.

This is a nice liquor store very similar to Woodman's stores. One side of the store is a big beer cooler for 4, 6, and 12 packs and some sampler packs. It has a few more singles than Woodman's with a few doors in the back of the store.
The selection was pretty much on par with the standard Woodman's, impressive for a Grocery Store. It is also nicely dim, almost pitch dark.
The prices weren't bad and the cashier was nice and noticed the wide variety I purchased. It is just down the road from JR Liquors which I did not stop at, but Trigs is worth another visit.

Since Trigs went into business in Stevens Point, all the other establishments selling beer and wine have taken a big hit. Walking through the beer section is akin to entering Heaven and hearing the angels singing a glorious anthem. Excellent selection of breweries and beer styles from across the United States. The manager is more than willing to help bring in a selection he doesn't have in stock (as long as the distributorship rights allow).
My only gripe would be with the "Build your own 6 pack" selection, as the selections do not rotate very frequently.
I feel bad for other smaller Liquor stores in the area and frequent them out of guilt occasionally...but when I'm looking for a great selection of beer, Cellar 70 is my stop.

Cellar 70 came to Stevens Point in a remodeling of the County Market a couple years back. With Cellar 70 came a good variety of beers (and wines) that most of Central Wisconsin hadn't seen before. They do a good job of rotating their six pack selection but the mix and match bottle selection has remained somewhat stagnant. The prices are legitimate but in Stevens Point they can still be considered on the high side. The service there is more miss than hit. I've been going there between 2 and 4 time per month and only once in the time that they've been open has someone offered something to me from the sampling bar.
1/18/2010 - I've updated the service from a 2.5 to 1.5. I regretfully report that every time I go into this store the service seems to get worse.
