Smell is pretty...clean. Small hoppiness, a whiff of corn and light malt presence. Smells a lot like most standard lagers out there but with much less of an adjunct aroma.
Taste is pretty sweet on the body....almost a big sugary? There's a bit of an adjunct taste to it as well, but overall it's rather sweet and clean. Afterwards, a fair amount of grain comes forward and is pretty prominent along with some residual sweetness. Wraps up with a somewhat mild, crisp bitterness.
Drinks pretty well, especially for its style. not bad at all for the style, tastes less cheap and sweeter than many others.

White head but not much too it. slightly malty smell. clean finish. very refreshinging lager but cleaner than most adjuncts. happy to drink it again. can is better than bottle for carbonation and appearance of head. this may have been a bad bottle cap as it was slightly flat. tast was fine but carbonation was very low. not much head at all

12oz bottle at fridge temp poured into a Sam Adams glass. "brewed in rochester" on the neck (by non other than genesee brewing of course...).
pours a super clear, golden, almost yellowish color. about one fingers worth of pure white head, faded to a thin yet retentive layer. some sporadic lacing. lots of carbonation bubbles.
mineral lager yeast, a bit of mineral water, and maybe a hint of sweet, corny malt.
mineral water, slightly sweet malt, hints of corn. a bit of tart apple and the slightest hint of lemon towards the finish.
light bodied, high carbonation, slight watery feel.
not really an impressive beer, but easy to quaff during the summer. i wouldnt be surprised if this is just regular genny with a different label... tastes very similar.

Bottle to Pint
12 oz
No Freshness date
Purchased from Total Wine Tampa for $1.79
App- A very clear yellow with only a 1/4" white head that was very fast receding. No cling or lace either.
Smell- A very malty, stale, cracker like earthy note to this one.
Taste- Some thing is off with this. I hope. It was very earthy and malty with a sweet, grassy bready note. Its a AAL just a little different.
Mouth- A lighter body with a medium carbonation. A cracker like residual flavor.
Drink- Too light and just doesnt work together. Un balanced and lacks a certain punch. I know its a AAL but just needs more from a craft brewer.

Presentation: Poured from a 12 oz brown bottle into a standard bottle. My parents picked up a case of this on a recent trip through New England and I snagged a bottle to review. No clear freshness dating.
Appearance: Pours with 1 finger of nearly pure white head. This settles quickly to a few islands of foam here and there and a ring around the glass. The beer itself is bright yellow and perfectly clear with a fair amount of activity. No sediment in the bottle.
Smell: Classic American Lager smell; sweet yet light malt with slightly metallic undertones and a hint of grassy hops. Exactly as expected.
Taste: Sweet malt with mild undertones of caramel. Slight biscuit notes. Finishes with very mild herbaceous hop flavor.
Mouthfeel: Average to slightly higher than average carbonation level. Body is surprisingly good; much thicker than any other adjunct lager I have had.
Drinkability: Generally not my style, but I can appreciate nonetheless. This is a well executed example and a solid and refreshing beer.

Golden beer with a big, foamy head. Strong aroma of bread with some hints of berries and grass. Crisp, fruity flavor with bread and grain; the breadiness fades as the beer gets a little warmer. I've already reviewed this beer from a can and this is radically different. It's still a decent adjunct lager, but buy it in a can if possible.

Pours a clear dark yellow with a thin head. The aroma is of corn and bread with a hint of sweet malt. The flavor is mainly doughy with some hay thrown in. The flavor is decent for an American adjunct lager in the beginning but it gives way to a BMC flavor and watery thin mouthfeel as it warms. Narragansett Lager is acceptable. Barely recommended.

A solid entry in the lawnmower beer category. Lively carbonation. Clean, moderately crisp malt with subdued grain notes. A touch of grassyness and a hint of Nehi grape (I may be the only one who gets this from some lagers - I find it prounounced in Moelson Canadian). A nice, classic macro feel to this beer. Not particularly flavorful, but clean and easy to drink.

473 ml can.
It pours a pale gold with a soapy white head that doesn't leave much lacing.
Smell is almost of nothing, there is more malt than sourness like sot AALs, but the corn is still annoying and there.
The flavor has a metallic sourness, some vegetal flavor, artificial sweetener, and some water. The mouthfeel is really watery.
Bad beer, not sure where the hype came from?, almost guaranteed from the name.

Decided to throw this into a recent mix a six.
A- Poured into a pint class with a clear light amber body. Foamy white head forms to about two fingers or so and retains decently. The head eventually dies down to nothing but some froth atop the beer leaving thin coats of lace around the glass.
S- Not a very strong aroma, some adjunct sweetness and light malt. Hard to pick up much.
T- Light malts, sweetness, grains, a bit of corn and light yeast notes (bread, fruit). A tiny bit of hops in the aftertaste.
MF- Foams up on the palate upon sipping, a light body with high carbonation. Very slight bitterness and overall sweet feel.
For what category this beer falls into for most people, it really isn't bad. I would much prefer this to the Bud, Coors or Miller product lines. No offensive flavors, just a light lager profile.

I was told on my trip to Boston that I had to try this beer. Sure...
Pours just like an AAL should, but uneven and fading head didn't do any favors.
Veggie smell at first. Stale malt and sweet corn.
Liquid corn and barley it seems to me. Syrupy and filmy. Not the flavors you want to be sticking to your palate for very long. Carbonation did nothing to clean it up.
Not impressed, even for an adjunct

A- Bright golden, white head retains decently. Retention is poor.
S- Sweet, grainy, and there is just a bit of a green apple skin as well.
T- Taste is a bit sweet up front, and there is a bit of adjunct character, but it's rather minimal. It was well balanced, and again there is a rather refreshing green apple tint to it. Normally not a big fan of that flavor, but it works here.
M- Sure, it's light bodied, but it has more body than almost any other member of the style. Carbonation is smooth and pleasantly not just fizzy.
O- A good lager. It keeps itself pretty clean and would be a great backyard/baseball game brew.

This wonder is the beer I grab when I want to drink in quantity. At $4.99 for a six pack of tall boys, you might expect it to taste cheap. Nope...this is a fantastic AAL.
A - Extremely light yellow and clear. Nice foamy lager head with decent lacing and retention. Nothing spectacular, but its a lager so I can't expect too much.
S - Sweet. Sweet. Sweet. The smell is dominated by a sweet corn aroma and a hint of malts. I can't pick out any other aromas. No offensive smells. One of the best smelling adjuncts I've had.
T - Ahhh. Why can't all the other macros taste like this? Crisp carbonation, sweet corn flavors, and the slightest hint of malts and hops. There's not a ton of flavor, but the flavor that it does have is inbetween neutral and pleasant tasting. Very refreshing and drinkable. This is the difference between bottled water and swamp water.
O - It doesn't get much better than this for the style. Its incredibly cheap, fairly local to me, and oh so non-offensive. The ultimate party beer, no need to do keg stands or funnels to force it down. Take your time neighbor, its damn tasty!

hello: hi neighbor, have a 'gansett!
in this case, your neighbor is florida. i missed gansetts the first time around as they shut down in the 80's sometime. but they recently started popping up again....of course in the NE, but in florida too, its a national push!
appearance: straw, ameribeer-color. clear, refreshing-looking. especially if it's been fresh-pourn into a glass on a hot day.
smell: eh, maybe i forgot to smell it, or maybe it was just that unremarkable to my insensitive-anyway nose. jeez, i wanna drink the thing, not do a line of it.
taste: this is a beer. i would describe it as the perfect cross section of every beer ever in one crisp brew. the good, the bad, take them all and average them out to 'gansett.
mouthfeel: you don't have to chew on it. it goes in your mouth and slides down your necktube, dancing a happy little bubbly dance on its way.
overall: it was the old school label that first drew me in. i looked closer, having moved recently to florida, and was appalled that i didn't grow up with this, being as i am a masshole for 27 years previous. call me a trendster if you will, but i cracked it open simply excited for a product of my homeland, and was pleasantly surprised with a perfect sessioner!

"f you're not drinking Narragansett beer, you're not from New England."
A - pours a clear yellow with a nice one finger head
S - smells yeasty with a bit of spicy grass hops and a bit of banana
T - starts off with grainy malts that fades to some banana and lemon flavors. This beer finishes clean with spicy and grassy hops. This is a pretty nice American lager. I would glady drink this if it were found around here.
M - a little watery and thing, but then again that's how an adjunct lager should feel
D - pretty solid beer here from Narragansett. One of the better examples I have had this style. Thanks to ApolloKim for the chance to try this one!

Straw colored with a nice white head that slowly fades leaving behind sticky lacing. Hmmm an adjunct lager with an aroma. Nice. Smells kind of grainy with a bit of grassy hops. Taste like cheerios with a bit of grassy hops. Nice mouthfill. It's fuller than most BMC and more creamy. Carbonation is spot on. If this were readily available I'd pick it up from time to time. Good beer for summer and certainly better than Bud, Coors, Miller.

Received in trade from BennyL1 (thanks Ben!). Poured into a tulip.
A - Golden straw colored. Rolled out with about a one inch head that settles down fairly quickly.
S - Almost imperceptible malt smell. Tad bit of sweetness.
T - Just a bit of sweetness in the taste. Cereal in there as you would expect. Finishes very dry.
M - Clean and crisp. Light bodied. Good carbonation.
D - Session beer for sure. This would make a great summer beer. Toss out the Bud/Coors and get this instead.

A - the normal golden/yellow color of most American Adjunct lager with a 1-2 finger head
S- mostly corn maybe a hint of malt in the nose
T- has the normal taste of an adjunct lager without the cloyingly sweet taste of the corn
M- highly carbonated and thin
D- refreshing beer I would definitely pick this beer over any other american adjunct beer i have tried

Narragansett Lager pours a crystal clear straw yellow color with a small, fizzy white head on top. As the foam disappears only a few spots of lace remain on the glass. A few streams of bubbles are seen rising to the surface.
The aroma is faint, but has notes of grain, grass and floral hops. For some reason the aroma reminds me of bread dough.
Each sip of this light bodied beer is smooth, slick on the palate with a mild carbonated fizz on the tongue. The flavor is grainy and sweet. It has notes of corn and pale malt. A nice floral hop flavor balances out the malt. It finishes sweet with the grainy flavor lingering on the palate.
This is a very easy to drink American lager. Fairly well balanced, not too bitter and it doesn't have those weird flavors some of the big companies have in their products. This beer seems more natural than the better known brands. I wish it had a better aroma and some more bitterness. This just might be my new 'go to' beer when I'm at a bar with a poor craft beer selection or it's a hot summer day.

As a Rhode Islander I felt obligated to try this one, I was not disappointed. Has a slight sweet malty taste and mild aroma. It has more of an amber color than most pale lagers I've tried. The head quickly disappears. Though it doesn't look very carbonated you feel it on you tongue. Highly drinkable. Has more taste than Miller High Life(my favorite pale lager, well used to be). I could get used to this one. For an inexpensive six pack on a Sunday afternoon this would do the trick.

A beautiful beer for everyday drinking. I always keep some in the fridge.
I recommend the bottles over the cans, and I recommend drinking from the container. There is something strange about this beer that makes it taste strange out of a glass, especially apparent with the Sam Adams pint glasses.
The beer is very light in color and produces an enormous amount of head.
It's also pretty cheap, which is always good.

Rather than describe the color and smell because I'm sure the description will be exactly the same as everyone other review, I will say that this is the beer that I always buy when I'm short on coin. This is not the best tasting lager in the world, but it is damn good for the $5.79 you pay for a six pack of 16oz cans (In Boston). By far the best beer I've had for that money. Compared to the price of PBR, this beer is far superior. Its cheaper than Bud and Coors and I think it tastes much better. Narragansett lager is a must try for anyone who drinks beer.
On a side note, I was in Block Island, RI last weekend (off the coast of Narragansett), and in the grocery store there was a sign for Narragansett Lager and advertised on the sign was a note saying that this beer was rated an "A" by the Alstrom brothers. Granted their actual rating is not far off from that, I found that kind of funny.

Served in a Narragansett Pint at 40 degrees.
Pours a deep gold, clean straw color with a white head with good retention. Clean smells of pale malts and grains. Tastes of sweet corn and pale malts, with limited hop presence. Mouthfeel is good and crisp, that is well balanced. A great unoffensive adjunct style that is easy to drink without being watery and skunky.

A- Straw yellow with a white head and decent retention
S- Cereal grains and spicy hops... the "beer" smell of an adjunct lager!
T- Some malts up front and bitter hops finish it fairly crisply
M- Light body and good carbonation
D- Macro? Wow! Taste like this out of a macro! Coupled with the price of a macro, not a bad deal!

Bottle into Sam Adams Perfect "Pint"
Narragansett Lager just started distributing to my area, so I thought I would give it a whirl. Looks and smells like a standard adjunct lager. My guess is that the adjunct is corn, because I'm picking up a corny sort of aroma and taste. I was hoping for it to be a more flavorful adjunct lager, but really don't find it to be any more likable than anything from the big boys.
I won't be getting this again, especially at what they're charging for it here.
