Had this on tap at Station 2 in Richmond, VA - pint
Pours a partially hazy gold color with decent head and lacing. Smells amazing! Big on citrus and grapefruit, smells like sugar in your nose.. really great.. Taste follows well and tickles the tongue in all the right ways without feeling boozy especially for a 10% beer.
If you get the opportunity, give it a try!

This is hands down my favorite beer that Wolf Hills brews. In being an utter hop monster I would have to say its quite satisfying. It has a nice head that lingers nicely, and a nose of overripe citrus and bitter hops. A very smooth bittersweet texture that coats your throat with an icy warmth. If you like a DIPA, or you really just want a warm buzz. This is your beer.

Had this at The Savory Grain in Richmond Virginia. This beer is a great offering from a small Virginia brewery. The nose is extrordinary with a candied citrus smell. Fresh citrus juice flavors with just the right balance to make this beer extremely drinkable even at 10% ABV! Give it a try!

Poured from a growler into a tulip. Nice one inch off white head with decent retention and lacing. Super dark amber orange almost brown. Nice looking beer.
Smell is really nice, sweet hoppy goodness. Candied citrus rind comes to mind. Smells like a really good ipa should. You know it's going to be good when the aroma hits you when you pour it.
Taste is great. Citrus hops to start, candied citrus rind in the middle with great bitter sweet hop finish. Really nice malt balance for a double. The alcohol is very well hidden. I wouldn't call it a hop bomb, because of the nice balance, but a great double ipa. Hop heads will not be disappointed.
Mouthfeel is really good. Good carbonation with a slight hop oil slickness. It's what the mouthfeel of a double ipa should feel like.
Overall a really good imperial ipa from a great small brewery. Wolf Hills now says the abv is 9.5 instead of 10. I really hope they make this a permanent offering. Unfortunately I don't get to Abingdon, VA very often and the beer laws in Tennessee are weird so their beers are not super easy to get. So far this is my favorite Wolf Hills offering but that could change because they are always coming up with something new and creative.

A: Deep Amber in color. Almost past that point but not quite enough as other DIPA's
S: Brilliant. They are using some good quality US hops in this place. gives off a citrus note, but not overpowering at all.
T: Love it! By far thier best beer next to the Imperial Russian Stout. I tend to prefer DIPA's even though I'm not a hop head, but this one certainly doesn't dissapoint. Goes down extremely smooth though, no terrible bite to take away from the flavor.
M: Medium to heavy, but settles well on the palate. Could have a bit more too it and it would still fit the style well.
O: If I go to a brewery more than once...then buy a beer there more than once...it must be pretty dang good. Love this beer, and hope it never goes off tap. Also if you get a chance check out the tap room. Great atmosphere to chill out in.

Drank on tap then ordered in growler.
A - Dark gold color. Pours with a great 1 - 2 inch head which lingers. If you walked in and saw one, you would immediately know it was a good beer. Leaves lacy head on the glass as consumed.
S - Hop nose is only controlled by the slight sweet malt tinges. Still a rather forward nose lets you know this is going to be a tasty beer.
T - Hugely hopped DIPA with a balanced taste. Right up my alley. Substantial malt comes through on the back end to completely balance out the hop attack.
M - Heavy hitting with juicy hop flavor. Malts also come through well Carbonation is still good even in the growler, on tap it was perfect.
O - Great beer. A great example of beer. Not a certain style of beer but just beer. Balanced, high octane and great tasting.

Pours a lightly burnt orange color also lightly hazy but basically clear. Sporting a two finger off white colored head from an aggressive pour, that leaves some nice sheet lace.
Aroma is nice hops citrus notes with soft sprinkling of pine needles and some good floral notes as well. Aroma is mostly hops that in them selves smell sweet almost, some light caramel sweetness from malts is noted also.
Taste is brief hint of caramel malts before the hops jump in and assault your taste buds. Starts nice sweet floral notes with pine sprinkles almost pleasantly sweet again. But finishes with strong bitter grapefruit rind that lingers on your tongue. Mostly a hop bomb I2PA not too balanced just enough malt to hold all those wonderful hops and add a touch of sweetness, but nothing at all wrong with that. Alcohol is well hidden and not an issue just hints of it in the finish.
Mouthfeel is medium with nice smooth perfect level of carbonation.
Overall very solid offering in the I2PA category. sadly just found out about this place thats been up the road from me for about a year. If this is any indication of their other beers I am going to be a happy BA. Web site noted that this is limited release so hopefully they will brew this recipe again.
