Aurants is what turned me on to craft beers. They have a great friendly atmosphere. Great food and drinks. There selection is always changing with both their dinner and bottle list. Highly recommend this bar. A person can go in there and feel comfortable wearing jeans and a t-shirt to a full suit and tie.
I usually run up a pretty decent tab for myself, but I never regret spending even one cent of it in that place. They have set themes for each night, but the menus for those themes always change. They have mac and cheese Mondays for example. You will be amazed with what they can do with a simple dish like mac and cheese. Well worth checking out. Also Tuna Tuesdays, Wing Wednesdays, and Tapas Thursdays.
They also know how to suggest a beer pairing with the type of dish you ordered for dinner. They have never steered me wrong with their suggestions. I would go every day of the week if it wouldn't drain my bank account. I usually end up going at least once a week.

Excellent selection of beer that is constantly changing. Always a couple of good (and generally uncommon) selections on tap and a large list of bottles. The food is not like anything else that you'll find in NEPA - very unique twist on even the "standard" type of selections. Food list is always changing just like the beers, but there are generally a few menu staples such as Kielbasa Kebabs, Duck Cheesesteak and Prosciutto Banana Lollipops - all of which are fantastic. And if you like to explore different types of meat from kangaroo to yak to python, this is your place.

I'd like to start by saying you will not find another bar quite like this. I really don't even know what to compare it to but the food and beer selection is extremely unique. The staff is extremely friendly and equally knowledgeable. Any bartender can pair a beer with any dish for you, which is sometimes necessary based on the wide range of items on the menu, which changes every night. Some items I have tried or seen on the menu include ostrich, kangaroo, yak, duck, wild boar, barracuda, and of course many traditional items like turkey, steak, etc. There is also plenty of "bar food" such as wings (with the chef's signature twist of course) on Wednesday and a variety of sandwiches and appetizers. They manage to take everything you think you know about food and turn it upside down in a way that will guarantee you will keep coming back. I am also a member of the beer club there and the selection is outstanding. Also, for what you get the prices are very reasonable. The atmosphere is very cool. You can feel just as comfortable coming in jeans and a T-shirt as you would coming in a suit and tie. It's extremely rare to find a place with this kind of quality that can boast that. If you have never been there I would highly suggest you experience this bar as soon as possible.

Aurants has a fantastic beer selection, especially for the locale.
Lets start here.. if youre a first timer.. dont waste any time looking at the menu.. GET THE DUCK CHEESESTEAK. Its juicy, delicious, and downright an experience youll dream about for weeks after you try it.
The chef is one heck of a nice guy, and what I love is that he'll periodically walk through the restaurant asking customers how they feel about their entree's, helping him figure out whether or not he should keep an item on the menu.
From time to time the restaurant will also hold Beer tastings.. which are an awesome event to be a part of. The restaurant will have 2 appetizers, an entree, and a dessert.. all paired with a beer. I wont lie.. I've walked away from the restaurant after some of these beer pairings crooked.
The food is tasty, but the restaurant will import beers specifically for the food's being offered. You can tell that the head chef understands beer, he doesnt just order premium named items, he'll order really really good stuff.
2 things worthy of note. 1 - If you order a coorsmiller light, youll get a bottle with a "mr. yuck" sticker on it (lol). 2 - To stay abreast of events at the restaurant, "friend" them on facebook. Its a word of mouth restaurant, any information about upcoming events and ideas are posed online.
If you live in the area, and like beer, definately give it a shot, after all.. it is a separation from the "rest"

AuRants, overall, was an average experience with a few glaring issues. First, the air conditioning was not turned on until 1/2 way through our meal...this was early August in the midst of one of the hotest summer for this part of the country. Food was good quality and an extremely creative menu. It dripped with pretention, but nonetheless there was about 100 things I'd try. The beer list was rather extensive, however, all of the taps were out that night (Strike 1). So we went bottles. No problem. I got a 750ml of Poperings Hommel Bier with a dirty glass. It was obviously only run thru a machine and not handwashed (Strike 2). Got another 750ml of Yule Smith Summer...with another dirty glass (Strike 3). I paid a good penny for 2 750s and some Ahi Tuna. I walked out of there mildly satisfied (I mean I did drink 2 750s) but realized that this place has amazing potential if it paid attention to detail. In my opinion the excitement of an extensive beer list is completely off set by dirty glasses and non-functional beer tap. In short, if you're going to walk to beer snob walk you should wash your glasses.
I will give AuRants one more try in the near future. Everyone has an off night.

Been here a few times since they opened and always enjoy going. AuRants features Chef Dave, formerly of the River St Ale House. plus a few other former Ale House employees. They brought both the food and the beer with them. As of now they only have 6 taps, but they are all quality (well, one is a nitro and typically Guiness, but last week they replaced it with Bullfrog Deuane, so that was cool). I believe they may be expanding to 12 taps soon, which will be a very good move. 6 is a little bit small; 12 will be perfect.
Anyway, for what they lack in tap handles they make up for in quality. You'll find plenty of locals here - typically a Breaker and/or Bullfrog offering. Other stuff you won't find anywhere in NEPA, as well. Sixpoint? Seriously? Hell yes. Very good bottle selection as well.
Service is always top notch and the food is eclectic and quite good. It's a bit of an odd mix, the eclectic food, semi-fancy dining room and great beer, but they make it work. A great place to have dinner and a few beers.

A nice place with a small bar on the left side and a larger dining area on the right.
Visited during the Friday of opening week for the special Bullfrog Brewery firkin tapping event.
Beer selection includes 6 taps of no crap and about a 100 bottles. Very well thought out bottle selection and the drafts, while a bit sparse, focus on quality and local products (Bullfrog, Breaker). They have plans on adding another 6 tap tower in the future.
Service was very good considering how crowded it was. I did have to wait on occassion for a beer refill at the bar but...see previous comment. The folks have good beer knowledge and that is a plus for sure. Plus, it is obvious the know their way around the service industry! Table service was beyond expected with personal visits from the owner and the chef.
The menu, while initially small looking, is actually very innovative and interesting. Everything is made fresh and while it may take a little longer to recieve your meal it wil be worth it in the end, trust me. The apple, walnut, garlic soup was to die for--don't crinkle your nose at it until you try it. My sashimi grade east meets west ahi tuna was beyond fresh, I swore I saw it flop on my plate! Plus, I asked for rare and it was done to perfection with just a touch of grilling. Our dinner companions meals were also off da' hook...come on, where have you EVER seen a duckling cheesesteak before?
Prices seem a bit more than most places in the area but considering what you get this place is a bargain compared to similar places in other metropolitan areas (NYC, Philly, etc).
All in all AuRant's is the fo-shizzle. Not a beer destination per se but more a damn good restaurant with a solid selection. Although I would not have an issue stopping in for a pint or two.

Aurants is a quant little joint that just opened a few weeks ago. It was packed when I went there. They have a nice environment with beer Memorabilia and signs hanging around.
Now that they have expanded a bit, they have 6 taps and over 100 bottles. The service is Phenominal. The people at this place REALLY know there shit when it comes to beer. The bartenders in my opinion are some of the most beer savvy in the area. Chef Dave is one of the most visionary culinary artists in the area. Very inovative items on the menus. The half chicken baked in herbs was so AWESOME with the Bruery Trade Winds that it should be a classical pairing. There Duck and Gouda Cheesesteak is also top notch. Well pretty much everything from their coffe to their deserts is top notch. And let's not forget about the beer. Usually a well picked bunch especially given that there's only six on draft. But I think that is changing to ten or twelve now. All in all a great dining experience for casual, party or fine dining
