A soft tan head of tight bubbles tops a clear, very dark mahogany in the glass.
Nose is mild yet distinctive with a typical flanders sour cherry softened with very mild vanilla and woodiness.
Taste follows aroma. Sour cherries, mild vanilla adding a richness and very light oak.
Mouthfeel is comfortable for this style...not at all thin like many sour beers tend to be. Soft carbonation from tiny bubbles keeps it full and sparkling on the tongue.
Aftertaste is mostly sour cherry but a sweetness follows which really balances this brew.
Love it.

Bottled on 9-30-2011 (about 1.5 years old). Poured into a tulip glass.

Not a pretty beer, but refreshing. Reminds me in some ways of a dry wine cooler. Nothing more than an average Flanders style beer. One that I would be willing to drink again if my choices were limited. You might want to give it a try.

A - Very well carbonated. Pours a cloudy dark brown/amber with a two-finger rocky head, which quickly disipates. Did not see any sediment. Minimal lacing.

S - Sour cherry, slight sweetness.

T - A citric tartness. No latic sour, rather dry, pale maltiness.

MF - Sharp, fizzy, dry.

This dark brown beer has a poorly retained neck (the style expects more retention). The aroma brings cherries, peppery tones, and molasses - and wood-like tones. The malt, both in aroma and taste, should be more pronounced, here expressed as toffee. The aroma expressed well the acidity, and, despite the aging of 2.5 years, no vinegar notes. The cheeriness is expressed both in aroma and taste, and is very pleasant. The body is medium, super carbonated, oily, and smooth. The end is acid, pleasant, but brief.
