Bottle from a pick-yer-6 @ Whole Foods. Poured into my trusty Sam glass.
A: Dark straw. Thick, light-colored head.
S: Straw with a hint of grain.
T: Sweet. Grain. Wheat and possibly corn?
M: Medium-bodied. Medium carbonation.
O: A sweet beer with strong wheat and corn flavor. Only a hint of hops lurking somewhere. A very drinkable summer brew to be sure, but not a standout in its style. I was intrigued by the grain-like taste that I cannot describe better than "straw-like" but not in any sort of negative sense. Interesting.

Served in a bottle at The Scullery in Greenville, NC
A: Pours a clear medium to dark golden yellow in color with light to moderate amounts of visible carbonation and some brassy highlights. The beer has a finger tall sudsy white head that reduces to a medium sized patch of very thin film and a thin ring at the edges of the glass. Light amounts of lacing are observed.
S: Overall the aroma is light with light to moderate notes of cracker malts with just a hint of light fruit (white grape). There are light amounts of floral hops as well. Slightly sweet smelling.
T: Upfront there is a lightly sweet cracker malt flavor that also includes some notes of white grape sweetness. There are light flavors of floral and grassy hops that impart a light to moderate bitterness which lasts through the finish.
M: Medium bodied with moderate amounts of carbonation.
O: Another enjoyable brew from Mother Earth - these guys make some really enjoyable and easy drinking beers. Super easy to drink and refreshing on a warm day - matched well with the BLT and black bean burgers at lunch.

Poured from the bottle into a small stange glass.
A real nice golden and supper brassy body. Lots of sticking cola carbonation and crystal clear, with some small rising as well. Eventually the cola bubbles disappear leaving a mix of small and fast rising bubbles . Head is bleach white and very soapy, but has real good staying power even after a good period of time and rest. A real nice looking brew.
Nose is a bit of sticky yeast. There's a bit of earth quality to this with a mild earthy soily dirt and hop front. Hints of toasty white bread and baked oven quality. Fairly solid.
Palate hits the right notes. Light bodied with a wine like dry white simple table but without the sourness. Crisp malt and a fruity grape like finish, but gives a great toasted white bread taste. Extremely clean, but has a real solid malt backbone. Malt aspect creeps up slowly, not much of a big rush though, but subtle and pleasant.
Overall a real solid Kölsch, and probably one of the few that I've had that reminds me of ones that are German. Always in search of the ultimate Kölsch, the Kwest continues in earnest.

Poured aggressively from a growler into a pint glass
A
More amber than yellow. Little lace after pouring.
S
Earthy and straw like. Not appealing to me and not what I recall from the growler store.
T
This is my first Kolsch. Not what I was expecting and now not a favorite. If this is a lager I am missing something. While not bitter, there is an interesting, center of the tongue bite that is unusual.
O
A new style of beer for me and not one that hit the spot. Obviously others liked this beer, but it did not suit my taste. Perhaps it sat in the growler too long. I went skiing in Montana.and left it in the fridge opened. Will have to revisit Kolschs in the future to make a final decision.
