look: 3.25 | smell: 3.25 | taste: 3.5 | feel: 4 | overall: 3.5
Appearance: Pours a burnt golden orangish color…fairly transparent, with a bit of haze to it…head is just off white, a mix of big and tiny bubbles and settles to a thin layer…it does liven up a bit with a couple of swirls, but really rests thin…(3.25/5)
Smell: Grassy bitterness up front…it’s got a crisp, fresh smell, but is dominated by grassy bitterness…I do get some earthy/pale malts, mild graininess and light honey sweetness as well…a touch of is yeast aroma mixed in there as well…a light, summertime feel with this brew…as it warms, a lemony bite appears…(3.25/5)
Taste: Earthy/pale/light caramel malts and a mild sweetness up front...the strong grassy/earthy bitterness and yeast flavors come through in second and really take over the taste buds…third phase I pick up some piney hops bite that becomes more apparent over time…tons of rich flavor here, this brew grows as it warms…(3.5/5)
Mouthfeel: Light to medium body with medium carbonation…it does fluff up bringing earthy/grassy bitterness to the palate along with some earthy/pale/caramel malts and a lingering piney bite…there’s a crispness up front that fades to a richness that is nice…the mouthfeel is definitely the best part of this brew…settles really nice on the tongue and the after taste is satisfying…(4/5)
Overall: This is a tasty brew…the flavor definitely has grown on me as I’ve done this review and now I sit here actually liking it (I improved the score a bit too)…the higher ABV is very noticeable, leaving this reviewer ready to watch some NBA Finals…overall, I have to say that while it’s not my favorite, it’s certainly doesn’t disappoint and something I would surely drink again in the future…mix-a-six is a great concept! Thanks to Rusel_G for the bottle.
Appearance: Light copper-infused gold. Couple cm whistle head is creamy with a big creamy bubble structure. Sheets of lacing cling to the glass. Moderate retention leaves a small cap and collar.
Smell: Mega fruity, almost like tropical punch. Apple and a hint of pear. A touch of bitterness. Decidedly earthy and herbal. Malts run a touch sweet for the hop profile. Biscuit with a ton of cooked malts. Juicy fruit.
Taste: Fruity herbal and a bit earthy. Slight lingering bitterness. Malts are a bit more assertive than the hops, but ultimately strike a balance. Cooked malts with a biscuit component. Some leafy elements. A bit dirty in the back. Some oily pine. Why you so herbal? Some caramel and biscuit malt.
Mouthfeel: A bit slick. Medium body. Moderate carbonation. Lingering bitterness.
Overall: No plans on syncing my cycle.
A good drinking IPA. Definitely falls in the maltier east coast style but it does it reasonably well. Hop and malt profiles seem a little incompatible in the long run.

12oz bottle into a DFH tulip/pint glass. 2/15/13 bottling date
pours a rich copper color with an inch thick white head. Nice aroma of citrusy hops, not too overpowering. Good smell. Taste - nice hops up front with a good amount of bitterness. Malt backbone is kind of "off." Balancing isnt quite right. But this is definitely not a boring beer, they tried to give it a good flavor and uniqueness and didnt play it safe. I detect some mango and pear flavors which is different for an IPA. Good drinkability, medium bodied with medium carbonation.
Overall this beer is a just a bit too bitter and the flavor is a tad offputting, but its a fairly good east coast IPA. I always say that west coast IPAs are just leaps and bounds ahead of east coast versions and this is no exception. But for an east coast IPA this one is not bad.

Attractive yellowish amber brew in the tumbler with a handsome head. Sudsy in the mouth and has the best kind of beery sensations. Whether it's a good IPA is another matter, and the flavor seems to be entirely vegetal and earthy.
Quite malty with an herbal tea taste that just doesn't go away. It's followed by an unfortunate bitterness that is like green tea steeped too long. Well made with a lovely mouthful of carbonation, but it's not a beer I can finish. From the 12 oz bottle bought at Whole Foods in Washington, DC.
