This is a supermarket first and foremost. I did not find any beer experts among the staff there, just a bunch of employee's unloading or ringing up stock..It is a grocery store so my standards are not as demanding. The selection I thought was good, not quite as good as Malvern’s but good. Singles alone are $3.50, but if you mix a six with a lot of the available beers, you can get the six for $11 with tax, which I feel is reasonable. All of the singles in this location were warm. It also seemed like the there was about one less shelf here for six packs as compared to Malvern, although they did carry some things Malvern did not have and vice-versa. The variety of beers available in this option was not as good as I was hoping for, but better than can be expected. The variety is super impressive. They had Russian River, Flying Fish, and mix packs of several local breweries like Lancaster and Erie. The one thing I would caution though is that much like the Malvern location, there were several beers on the shelves that were past the drink by date. Service removed them when notified, but did not have fresh replacements available. I would not rush out to multiple Wegman’s on one trip, but would certainly stop at one. If this was the closest one, it certainly fits the bill.

A - Its a grocery store, so there's really not great, but it is a nice grocery store.
Q/S/S - Their food and beer selection is all good quality, although I prefer the Collegeville and Malvern locations over Downingtown. They don't get any of the super limited release stuff, but they do have a great selection from American and world wide breweries. Service leaves something to be desired. They usually have some grunt stocking the shelves that never seem to know anything about the beers or recent shipments, but I like how they are always eager to help you out, and willing to check the stock room for you.
Overall, its a nice store with a good selection. I feel the store suffers from having to retrofit the beer sale area, as it doesn't have very much in the way of a refrigerated selection, and the aisles are very tight.

Wegmans: I do not understand why this place is only a B rating. They have some much to offer. They have a little bit of everything from Bellgians to US brews. They have lots of PA, NY, NJ, DE stuff. Prices are so good. Cheapest around. The organization is great, just like the supermarket. Heck they have lost abbey for less then $10. They have voodoo bbvd $9, and they have RR damnation for $6. They knock it for basic stock up. Nothing uber rare but def very nice. Just walk around the store and see food quality. Wegmans is the cats meow.

I live close by, so I frequent the stores near the Wegmans. It is my go to place for a six-pack or single. Not the place I go to for some really off the wall stuff. Still not a bad selection and has actually increased in the past year. A lot of PA beers; Victory, Sly Fox, and all the Philly brews. Some west coast and mid-west and even a few Belgian beers. Kind of nice when I just want a nice bottle of Chimay blue. Still, it is nothing I would go out of my way to see.
There is one thing that is not widely known. You are allowed to get a meal from the store and drink a beer at the Wegmans. A select amount of craft beer is kept cold near the registers for this purpose. You can not have any minors at the table and obviously moderation is encouraged.

Stopped in here before my trip to Victory. Compared to the Wegmans in Mechanicsburg, I came away really impressed, despite the stores being in the same state with access to the same beers. The usual PA suspects were here, with more of a selection from Yards and Stoudts as well, something I'm not used to seeing. Tons of Belgians as well. But the real cream of the crop came when I saw a shelf of Southern Tier bombers, a few Lost Abbey/Port bombers, and the shocker...1 shelf of Russian River Damnation. Stunning to see Russian River outside of Philly, but here we are. Will definitely stop by again the next time I'm at Victory.

It's a beer store tucked away in a supermarket, so that's exactly what the atmotphere is like. The quality of beers is pretty good, with an especially nice selection of local craft beers and some decent imports. The prices are very fair for PA, and they have a good lot from Founders, Bells, Great Lakes, Rogue, and Cali brewers like Port, Lost Abbey and Lagunitas.
Definitely stop by if you are going to Victory, but it's not really worth the trip if you are not driving past it anyway. The selection is very good although there were not any singles from 6-packs and checkout system is annoying

Stopped in at the Wegman's Downington location about 1 week after visiting their new store in Malvern. Quality was about the same, typical supermarket atmosphere. Selection here was decent but not as good as the Malvern store. The number of craft beers is about the same but there is no mix a 6 pack and the singles selection is VERY small. Also their are many more imports at the Malvern store. The only staff I encountered was the teenage girl at the cash register who unapologetically asked to see my wife's and my I.D. ( We are both 40 years old) Prices are not bad by PA standards. Overall a decent place but not worth traveling any great distance to get to.

Stopped by looking for Ommegang Tripel Perfection. That was a no go but there is plenty available.
Atmosphere: The beer section is blocked off in the Market Cafe section, clearly isolated from the rest of the store (damned state laws). Several aisles, including ends, feature beer, mostly in six packs.
Quality: I didn't seek out assistance and quickly found the section. A varied selection and a clean store, all I need.
Service: I didn't seek out or receive any help. We'll call that an even 3.
Selection: Here is where Wegmans stands out above most bottle shops in PA. A decent to good Belgian selection, including a moderate array of dinner bottles. The best selection is American craft with an emphasis on local. I saw plenty of Victory on the shelves. Port, Lost Abbey, Rogue, Ommegang, Long Trail all stood out among the bomber/dinner set, especially the Ommegang priced at $7 per bottle. Alas, no Tripel Perfection though.
Prices are better than most specialty bars in the area.

A stellar alternative to buying cases at PA distributors, paying premiums at high-end bottle shops, or crossing statelines.
The section dedicated to beer is two long runs of four high shelving with some additional endcaps and stacks near the door.
A very respetable selection with all local and regional craft breweries represented along with the majority of their offerings. Other US craft breweries were represented as well, but with only one or two offerings from each.
The pricing was very reaonable, especially for the US offerings. Some of the foreign offerings seemed a tad pricer than I had anticipated.
The store was clean and well stocked. I would gladly revisit again, if a closer Wegmans didn't just open in Collegeville.
While you may not find rare beers and everything you're looking for, the overall the ability to have such a quality selection of craft six packs at reasonable prices is much appreciated.
