only place i've seen this amber alle is at the local 99 cents store for $.60 (down from $1 last month). i guess it's worth that price, but not much more. poured a standard orange-amber color with a slight head that dissipated within moments; left behind a soapy residue of foam at the top of the glass. the initial aroma was of discernibly skunky - who knows how long this one has been lingering on the shelf - but underneath that smell was some semi-sweet maltiness mixed with the familiar odor of damp cardboard i associate with cheap "craft" brewing. tastes are reminiscent of brown sugar mostly; that molasses quality comes through the strongest. something slightly metallic or astringent like dishsoap going on as well. the more i drink this the less i like it. there is something bitter that has nothing to do with whatever budget hops they tossed in the kettle. i reckon walker brown amber ale might appeal to malt liquor drinkers that want a cheap buzz with some bubbles.

Pours a clear orange with a 1/2 inch foamy tan head that settles to an oily film on top of the beer. No lacing on this one. Smell is of sweet malt and caramel. Taste is of malty syrup and sugar. Very sweet with no hop flavors to speak of. This beer has a higher level of carbonation with an extremely prickly mouthfeel. Overall, this is a pretty bad beer that seems pretty poorly done. The best thing about this beer is the label.

Bottle, discount store private label. Pours an orange-gold, spritzy head is mostly white with little retention. Aroma is grainy with a hint of toasty malt, muddled hops or lightly solvent in the background. Tastes quite watery, the toasty malt that should be in an amber ale is there, but it is mixed with off-flavors, fruity in a solvent way, reminds of dirty dish water. Feel is overly thin and airy with carbonation, just feels totally wrong as an amber ale. Not sure what the point of this is faux-craft label is, other than to grab a couple of bucks at the discount store from curious shoppers. Quite unappealing, much better off with a cheap lager.
