Pale golden hue with a bright white highly carbonated head dwindles pretty quickly, these beers visually stuck out at the local Kroger amongst other 24 ounce cans as something I've never seen that isn't an alcohopop or spiked lemonade tea or Jeremiah Weed product. Aroma has a harsh cooked veggies smell with hint of metallic note about it, not much in the way of hops this is fizzy yellow lager. Flavor attempts to be unoffensive I'm not sure it succeeds though, cereal grains/cooked veggies corn and rice not much malted barley breadiness going on. Mouthfeel is harsh a bit of gag reflux inducing textures with creamed corn, and rough carbonation it really sticks around and makes the whole experience a bad one. Like I said before these pseudo market brand companies need to find a new business, make some energy drinks or something because these knock off contract brewed beers are pretty bad...why in the hell would Kroger offer this amongst a decent selection of other macros and smaller and mid sized craft breweries.

LOOK: Pale yellow, clear, small white topping disappears quickly.
SMELL: Stale, grainy smell. The aroma is a hodge podge of corn, rice, generic malt sweetness and a small hint of processed hop.
TASTE: Tastes ultra clean, mildly sweet and rice is the primary flavor.
FEEL: Light bodied, watery, well carbonated
OVERALL: pretty lame lager.

24 ounce can. Served in a nonic pint glass, the beer pours a clear gold color with an inch and a half white head. The head stays around a little while, and there's a decent amount of lacing left on the glass. Aroma is all sweet malt and grain/corn. It tastes like sweet malt, grain/corn, and there's also a slight metallic taste. The warmer it gets, the more bitter tasting it is compared to the initial sweet malt flavors. Mouthfeel/body is light, it's thin but not too watery. For the style of beer it is, it's not bad at all. It was on sale for $1 a can at the local Kroger, and at that price I can't complain at all. Actually, at that price it was the only reason I bought it. And for just $1, I'd buy it again.

Pours a dark golden color with a good deal of thin head with holes in it. Carbonation bubbles are obvious. Smells grainy and musty. Taste is grains and corn; a little sweet but mostly just a bad bitter beer. Very carbonated lending to a light mouthfeel.
This is not a good beer! Cheap as hell though.

Appearance - pale yellow/straw, three to four fingers of white foam, holding quite well. Melts steadily down, we'll be quaffing shortly.
Aroma - cereal, grain husk, about as expected.
Taste - light sweet grain, a bit rough at mid-palate. Shallow and watery, but going down fast after working up a decent sweat with the pigskin outside. No aftertaste and finish aside from the bland grain. Light bitter twang at the end, meh.
Mouthfeel - thin and watery, average crispness.
Drinkability - super cold, she'll drink but don't dally. Nice enough looking can but not worth the shelf space.

Clad in a gigantor blue can with the slogans "first rate" and "sail close to the wind" emblazoned on its other wise generic design. Definitely feeling gypped after finding out everyone else aid a dime less than the $1.09 I paid for this obvious superstar at the Kroger in Apex yesterday. That's the cheapest 24 oz can I know (tied with Genesee Ice at a local gas station)
Okay, the truth is that there isn't much there. Apeearance is light ginger ale colored with literally no foam or head at all. Tons of visible carbonation. Nose is a light, grainy, sweet blah. Taste is exactly what you'd expect. Sweet and inoofensive. Slightly sour in the finish. Done. Okay for the price but depressingly boring.

Poured from a can into a snifter glass.
Look – light straw-like in color, clear, with about two and a half fingers’ worth of foam that dissipate somewhat slowly.
Smell – seems to be of cereal grains, but with maybe a slightly higher quality of selection.
Taste – interesting taste for this kind of beer. It seems to release a few more phenolic flavors than I would have thought.
Mouthfeel – it leans a little more toward the watery side.
Overall – not a bad beer, but not interesting at all either..

$1 for a 24 oz can, on sale at Kroger.
Pours a very light yellow, with a frothy white head that sticks around. Smell is sweet with some malty notes. The taste is minimal, not as potent as the smell, a sweet lager with the malt flavor, a hint of barley at the end. The mouthfeel is the biggest miss on this beer, it is very light and watery. Overall a drinkable lager for the style. I was pleasantly surprised by the flavor and was happy to spend the dollar to try this beer. Even though it does not have much flavor, what it does have is not bad. Compared against others in this style I would much prefer this over the other macros. This seems like it would be great on a hot day, but if you are looking for flavor or a complex beer, this is not it.

A - Pours an extremely clear gold with a massive frothy white head. Virtuall no carbonation bubbles. Left almost no lacing
S - Grain husks, corn adjunct, rice, white grapes, metal.
T - Seltzer water, corn husks, white grapes, metal, rice adjunct, rubbing alcohol finish if drank from the can.
M - medium bodied with almost no carbonation.
O - Overall, this was just slightly above your average mass produced swill. For the price tag ( $16.99 a 30 pack ) i'd say this is probably the second best beer in it's range. Pabst is first. This makes a good party beer however.

24 ounce can, priced in an economy price range.
This beer is an economy priced beer that has characteristics that surpass similarly priced brews. It provides value.
Pours a bright crystal clear, very pale straw color with a very decent snow white head that has better retention than most economy priced lagers.
Aroma is a little earthy with some corn husks
Taste is not at all offensive. Not much to highlight but that's ok.
Overall, in rating this beer on a value basis it did fine.

Poured from 24 ounce can
A- Clear straw yellow in color with very soapy white head.
S- Mostly smells of grain and sweet corn, somewhat sour smell.
T- Much like the smell, grains and sweet corn, very mild bitterness at end.
M- Pretty light and fairly carbonated.
O- Ok beer. Not much to it though, maybe sweeter than most lagers. May buy again since it is so cheap ($1) and is fairly drinkable.

Pours with a big, fluffy head that dissolves rather rapidly. Aromas of sweet grain and yeast. Very sweet flavor. Tastes of sugary bread and grains. Not an unpleasant taste, but a little too sweet for my liking. Tastes pretty good for an adjunct lager, and is one of the cheapest cans in the tall boy cooler. Has very cool packaging too.

It is what it is! Poured from can not very appealing, though it does look like its type of brew. The smell to me was sour grain and nothing else. The taste same way, mouthfeel is smooth though so it helps to get it down. Overall I would not buy this over PBR or Budweiser because its 2 dollars cheaper its worth spending the extra few if this is your style of beer!

24oz can for a dollar at Kroger's. Drank straight from the can.
Looks just like the light version.
Clean, light mineral smell.
Not much. Slightly earthier than the light version.
Carbonated water, dry finish. Refreshing.
Definitely worth the money. Not much difference from the light version at all.

Port Republic from BrewMasters Choice Rochester NY, strait out of the blue 24oz can. Smells of light adjuncts and cereal, no hop to speak of. Tastes very clean, with a slight lingering bitterness that isn't pronounced in many beers of this style. Mouthfeel is clean and crisp, and is very pleasant. For a 24oz can of swill that cost $1, I'd buy another any day. A good beer for beating the Georgia heat! Cheers!

After some research, I found that this is brewed by Genesee. Their cream ale used to be my go-to cheap beer until I found this. $1 for a 24oz can at Kroger. Take that PBR!
A - Looks like an adjunct lager. what else can I say
S - Smells like an adjunct lager with a little metallic smell. Maybe its the can?
T/M - Actually not bad. Pretty solid for the price. Actually has a little more light malt flavor than a normal adjunct. Sure the rice is there too, but it's actually kinda pleasant.
O - See intro above..can't really say it better than that. Everyone should keep a few of these in stock for watching a game or whatever, when you just want a "beer".

14.99 for a 30 pack here in Durham N.C.
This is a great, cheap american lager...great meaning slightly above average as a whole.
This beer is also known as Big Flats 1901,which you can buy at Walgreens...but this version tastes a better. Its not as offensive to the nose and has hardly any aftertaste...a great sessionable beer.Good on a hot day or when youre watching t.v.
Make sure you keep this beer cold....it does get a bit unwieldy as it warms up.
If youre not a fan of american lager then this is not for you.Elite beer enthusiasts,if you like cheap "bad" beers....you may be surprised by this beer.
This is my new beer that im going to keep the fridge stocked with,PBR was my regular but its popularity has made it alot more expensive...my new Sunday beer for when im broke

poured into a nonic
appearance: pours a pale goldish color. Started out with a big fluffy carbonated head but dissipated shortly thereafter into nothing. Display of carbonation is plentiful.
Smell: mostly just sweet adjuncts reminiscent of creamed corn and a vague hint of a floral hop presence
Taste: again back to mostly sweet grains. taste is pretty typical of this style. nothing special here.
Mouthfeel: not too pleasant. Very thin. carbonation that leaves a metallic stinginess behind.
Stomachfeel: not very good. As usual with most adjunct lagers, this one's not settling too well with me. Make sure you eat a well balance meal before drinking this one.
Overall: Just another typical macro brew. Dirt cheap beer. Got it for a $1.50 at the local Kroger.
Cheers! Enjoy!

There is absolutley nothing wrong with this beer. I know that's a hell of a way to start a review, but anything I say has to be tempered by the fact that I paid $1.09 for a 24oz can. That's only slightly more expensive than freedom (which, of course costs $1.05).
All things considered (IT'S 50¢ A BEER!) this stuff is really quite drinkable. It's cheaper than even Red Dog or Icehouse, and much more palatable.
Who are we fooling here? No one. This isn't going to be you're new favorite beer, but if your either cheap or broke and looking to catch a buzz, this beats the shit out of malt liqueur.
Serve ice cold,
Cheers!
