One finger of tan head with a dark brown body.
The smell is a strong roasted malt.
Taste is roasted malt and burnt coffee. A bit bold and one sided.
Fizzy texture but only moderate carbonation with medium body.
Overall it's nice, but bold flavor profile.

Had this brew at John Barleycorn's in Tigard, Oregon.

Appearance - Deep Brown, almost black (SRM = 35)

Smell- There was a nutty coffe smell right off the bat, like a coffee lightly seasoned with a bit of hazelnut. Pretty much sums up this stout from here on out.

Taste - the nutty coffee smell gives way to just that, a light hazelnut and coffee tast. Delicious, fill bodied stout with a good 6.45 abv and smooth aftertaste that doesn't linger too heavy with the faintest bitterness. Leaves a bit of coffee breath though :P

Mouthfeel- lightly carbonated, flavor and bubbles stay on the middle of the tongue while the liquid slides down.

overall a great stout to begin the night of great beers to be had. Cheers.

16oz imperial pint on-tap.
from notes.

Black with a creamy, light tan head.

Roasty, cocoa notes in the nose and palate.

Creamy, medium+ body, with medium carbonation, quite pleasant.

A well done stout. An enjoyable flavor profile with a great mouthfeel for a stout. Something I would enjoy having again next time I happen to be in a McMenamins.

Had a pint of this at the Spar in Olympia.

Very dark brown, almost black in color, with a creamy, tan head.

Roasted dark malts gave off a coffeeish bitterness along with a milk chocolate-like sweetness.

The coffeeish bitterness was what was at first most noticeable about the taste, but then chocolatey notes kicked in to provide some balance. There was a slight dry note at the swallow.

Medium bodied, with normal carbonation for the style. Coating mouthfeel.

Well-made but fairly standard stout. Not terribly complex, but fine for a late morning pint spent watching execrable football. If I find myself in another McM's, I'd order this again without any trepidation.
