Large selection overall if you include liquor and wine. Beer selection is better than average with a fairly good selection of high gravity stuff, especially for Alabama. Great selection of local Birmingham beers. Picked up a six pack of Good People IPA and brown. They had a good selection on tap for growler fills as well. I asked if I could mix a six and got confusion from the folks that worked there, but they were willing to allow it on the high gravity beers. They had about six coolers. Half of them were filled with domestic beer. Others were full of local and a few other craft beers. Terrapin, Good People, and Sweetwater dominated which is admirable since they are all southern breweries. The service was quick and friendly, but not particularly knowledgeable. The quality was great, and the place was a bit crowded with liquors but it was clean, and friendly. Overall nice place to stop.

Stopped by here on the way out of B'ham, we're in beerhell MS so we stopped at many places just to bootleg some goodies.
First off, as we waited for the store to open (we arrived 10mins early, didn't realise they couldn't sell before noon) 2 bums pushed their shoppingcarts past us and try to get money from us. The other 2 cars in the parkinglot were nice cars with very respectable looking people in it. If it wasn't for them we would have left.
Fairly nice store, pretty good selection and price, his St Bernardus were $13.99, way lower then other places we went this weekend. Not sure if they know what they have, the malt liquor was mixed in with the craft. They advertised to have Good People on draft but all they had on tap was Coors light, miller light and bud light, which is exactly what the bums were buying a gallon of.
We bought 3 6packs but I doubt we'll be back, I would have not gone in by myself just because of the loud bums. The lady at the check out was really nice but as she was talking to us about the beerfest, another smelly man walked in and bumped me out of the way. Soo... go during daylight, and expect reasonable prices!

Every person from the area that i talk to about beer shops tell me to check out this store.
Good rounded shop. In addition to beer they also have a prominent cigar shop. They have a pretty good selection on the shelves and on tap. They were the only store to actually have Sierra Nevada's Celebration in stock. Very stoked to find it.
The attendant was very happy to tell me all about the store and show me some of his favorites. He was a very helpful dude.
The prices were about what i expected, but not over the top. ill definitely be back next time I'm in the area.

Revisiting this review 8 months later. Things have changed for the better. They now have 12 taps and are selling glass growlers on an exchange system - buy a glass growler for $5 then exchange it when it's empty. They almost always have Good People on draft and have one of the best bottle selections in the metro area.
Just about the best selection of beer in the metro area. You can also buy draft beer in plastic milk jugs to go, making this store pretty much unique in the Bham area. Prices are comparable with most other liquor stores, and the owner is very focused on bringing the best selection possible into town as well as the beer brewed locally (Good People) which is only available on draft.
Also worth mentioning is that they have a good selection of cigars with a walk-in humidor, and they permit smoking in the store. If you are a non-smoker like me this can be offputting, but it's worth it for the breadth of the beer choices available here.

Alabama is a strange place. First nowhere to get a local beer, now a number of local stores, breweries, and brewpubs, and this place- decent enough selection for Alabama- not everything available, but quite a bit. Some in the cooler, some stacked on the floor or in in boxes at the end of an aisle. The real reason to come here, though, is the growler fill station. 4 or 5 taps, usually one at least a Good People Brewing selection, and reasonably priced. Strangely, though, the growlers are basically new (or at least clean) plastic milk jugs. No glass allowed, apparently. Also, by no means think you can just grab a jug and start pouring, that all has to be done by an employee. This is all great, but could be so much greater. Why are the other taps so awful? Who buys a growler of bud light or Busch in a plastic milk jug? Especially when it can't possibly b ea much better deal than a 30 pack. A missed opportunity, if you ask me to step it up a notch. In any case, I'm glad the place is here. A destination only for the one good growler tap.

Great selection of beer. Lots of choices of many high quality craft beers. Choice is large, though not the largest in the state by any means. They did have most of the best American craft beer available in the state and a lot of very good quality imports. The reason I stop by here is for the ghetto growlers of Good People beers which are a fabulous deal -- $10 for half a gallon of high gravity, excellent quality, draft only beer.
Folks were nice enough here though the two women working didn't know a ton about beer, but they were helpful. Good place.

Dee's carries just about everything that is available in central Alabama. The best part about this store is that they sell "growlers". it's actually just a plastic milk but they always keep a beer from the local brewery, Good People Brewing, whose beers are only available via draft. They also have a extensive selection of cigars as well. They are slightly limited by space, but they do a very good job with what they had. They sell 1/6 barrel kegs of Good People too. but the half gallon for $10 is usually what I leave with, because I can't get it anywhere else.
