Located on a small side street in downtown Mt. Vernon the Trumpeter is a nice room featuring a dark wood bar top and back bar. On a recent visit the draft list included beers fromDick's, Kona, Anacortes, Leavenworth, Snoqualmie Falls, Green Flash, Boundary Bay, Ninkasi, Harp, Hoegaarden, Smithwicks, Bass, Trumer, Stella Artois and Guiness. The bottle list had brews from Orval, Westmalle, Chimay, Lindemanns, Leffe, Duvel, Kwak, Karmeliet, Ayinger and Samual Smith's.
The Trumpeter also featues a very nice selection of spirits at reasonable prices. The menu is on the upscale side and very well done, in the limited amount I've tried, and also has several Gluten Free options.
The service has always been prompt and friendly without being clingy. If you're in MV, the trumpeter is certainly worth a visit.

A nice place to have dinner down in Mount Vernon, the Trumpeter offers a quiet environment (despite the proximity of the tables) and an easy going staff that allows you to enjoy your meal at your leisure. The beer selection consists of some standard imports and a rotating selection of about 9 craft beers. Occasionally, they have some slightly rarer selections although it's not anything really special, just harder to find in this area. They don't seem to go through them very quickly or they replace them with the same beer because they rotate very slowly. The beer is reasonably priced at $4.25 a pint but the food is a little more expensive. It's worth it to go for some of there specials because it's very fresh and well-prepared while their standard entrees aren't enything really special. Service is quick and friendly and not too invasive and they're more than willing to offer recommendations.
And if you're into scotch, whisky, or bourbon then this is the place you want to be.

Decent selection of local and regional microbrews, gluten-free and vegan meal/drink options, and comfy bar, table, and couch seating options.
I've only been a few times now, so perhaps my only complaint could be refuted by any regular, but the beers on tap tend to be the same styles you'll come across anywhere: porters, pale ales, IPAs, etc. I'd like to walk in and be offered a tripel, or barleywine, or imperial something, or something served cask-pumped, etc. I'm not a frequenter of bars, so I appreciate a place that has things I'm willing to drink, but I also appreciate serendipity, of finding a beer I didn't expect to find on tap.
Still, worth stopping by if you're in Mount Vernon.
