Notes:
This West Coast IPA was made to be a session IPA. It is very light gold in color with an intensely hopped nose. It has a high citrus hop flavor with a dry crisp aftertaste. If you like the DRIPA and want to last longer, try the Fluffer...

Poured on-tap at Frankenmuth's World Expo of Beer.
Appearance: DRIPA. A pale yellow color without much head or lacing.
Smell: DRIPA. ... just less pronounced. Very pleasant fruity hop aroma. Very inviting.
Taste: DRIPA ... just watered down. Even Kuhnhenn's description of this beer says something along the lines of, "if you want the taste of DRIPA to last all day." or something like that. Truthfully, that's what this tastes like. DRIPA's a great beer ... watered down DRIPA is a good beer, but it gives that... excuse me for this... WATER aftertaste. The taste just falls off at the end. The nice little linger that DRIPA has is what makes that beer so great. This is what it is ... DRIPA Light. If anyone wants to tell you it's a different recipe besides less flavor, they're wrong.
Given the ABV, this is a brilliant beer. Somewhat lazy of Kuhnhenn to do what they did with Fluffer, but it's worlds better than many other craft brews that are <5% ABV.

On draft at Tap and Barrel, Smithtown, NY.
Poured a medium brassy hue with a one finger foamy white head. There was very Goid retention and lacing.
The smell featured resinous piney hops aplenty.
The taste consisted of a full on hop assault with elements of pine, pepper and grass. A nice crackery malt as well.
The mouthfeel was typical of the style with a clean finish.
Overall a tasty balmy session bomb.

slightly hazy light golden pour with 2 fingers of white head which dissipated slowly. the smell is nothing short of a regular ipa.. lots of citrusy grapefruit and pine with a sweet honey-like scent following. the flavor is perfectly balanced.. lots of piney bitter hops up front with a bready malt backbone. one would think a beer may suffer in flavor from becoming a session ale, but not this one! mouthfeel is medium body (again surprised) with a moderate amount of carbonation.
this is a solid ipa and the fact that it falls into the session category is even more enticing. the brewer over at kuhnhenn is a fucking master. there is no doubt. i was in nyc about to pick up a friend whose flight got cancelled so i made a day of just hitting up a few spots. got the growler filled at good beer nyc which luckily for me still had this on tap from sunday. this is the 2nd time i see kuhnhenn on tap in ny and it makes me happy that i've been able to fill with 2 different beers of theirs. never a disappointment.

On tap at Kuhnhenn Brewery in Warren. Pours a pale straw color, almost similar to the color of Mott's apple juice, with a mild haze to it, still allowing large amounts of light through. Small head, most likely due to the tap pour, tiny bits of lacing along the glass. This one had quite a large, fruity, citrus aroma to it; lots of peach and mango, also some mild grapefruit. Light hoppy and pine resins on the nose, too. Taste comes through even harder on the hop-side of things; pines, pine trees, resins, light floral flavors. The mouth and flavor were just a touch watery, probably given the low ABV of the beer, but still - it packed a reasonable sized hop punch. The bitterness was there, albeit mild overall. Citrus on the palate was a bit lighter than it was on the nose, which is to be expected. Aftertaste full of wet, grassy hops and some peaches and grapefruit rinds. Thin-medium bodied with a medium-high amount of carbonation.
Very good IPA here, especially considering the fact you could drink this bad boy all day. Reminds me of Founder's All Day IPA. Is this one better? It's hard to say. It's damn good, regardless.

Good citrus American IPA. Very light orange body,a little lace ( though I found it watered down a bit). Cat p aroma in quantity, using lots of citra which imputes a bold taste. Lots of malt, Carmel, and some fruit. Bittersweet finish. Decent drinkability.

Growler from the brewery, consumed the night before the 2012 Winter Solstice. Into a Kuhnhenn branded tulip.
Super clear gold, minimal white head and a ring of retention. Only a smidgen of lacing. Nose is full of citrus and fruit notes, not super intense, but fairly bright. A good bit of orange and tangerine with some herbal and pine character. Taste has a lot of hop character up front, more citrus, some tropical notes and even a bit of melon. Pale malt finish, with very modest bitterness. Light feel, and medium low carbonation. Easily split this growler, and could've crushed one solo. Really good stuff.

A: Poured from the growler (purchased at Westmere Beverage in Guilderland on 11/29/12 for $15.99) into a pint glass. Body is clear and light - golden yellow with a small (half-finger) white head. Some splotches of lace cling to the glass.
S: Hops: some florally and herbal hops along with the usual American-style citrus. Modest sweetness too, which reminds me somewhat of tropical fruits.
T: Also hop-centric, with a big hit of grapefruit - more pith or peel than the fruit itself. Some lemony zest, a good dose of floral notes, and a just a touch of pine. Hint of garlic makes me think Amarillo or Simcoe might be in the house tonight. Light but sweet malt is there in the background, provides some modest balance to offset the hops, which are surprisingly (given the nose) muted in their bitterness. The abundant floral notes and light color make me think of Imperial Pilsners from time to time.
M: Light in heft. Carbonation is modest.
D: Good stuff. This is the second "session IPA" that I've had of late, following Lagunitas Daytime (am I smelling a trend here?). Both are quite good, hop-forward beers that are light in color and ABV but not in taste. This would make a good "summer IPA" - if that makes sense.

From 11/10/12 notes. Had this on tap at Taproom 307 in NYC down in Gramercy; served in a pint glass. They had several Kuhnhenn beers on tap and had this right after the great DRIPA.
a - Pours a transparent bright yellow color with one inch of white head and low carbonation evident.
s - Smells of citrus hops, grapefruit, apples, some fruity malts, and light floral hops. A nice nose and the hops are there, though not as overpowering as the DRIPA.
t - Tastes of citrus hops, grapefruit, lemon zest, orange, fruity malts, tropical fruits, apples, floral hops, and some light pine. A ton of hops and fruit, and it gets better as it warms up. A step up from the nose slightly.
m - Medium body and low carbonation. Pretty easy to drink and no bitterness at all. Smooth and crisp; maybe the best part of the beer.
o - Overall a really nice beer, though it is no DRIPA. Seeing the name and reading the description, it looks like they made exactly what they set out to make, and it is a very good beer, but DRIPA was unreal right before it. This one is definitely a little easier to drink, and has a good amount of citrus hops to it too. Well worth checking out, and would certainly have again, though I prefer DRIPA.

A: The beer is crystal clear deep yellow in color and has no visible carbonation. It poured with a thin white head that quickly died down, leaving delicate lacing on the surface and a thin collar around the edge of the glass.
S: There are moderately strong aromas of citrusy hops in the nose.
T: The taste is similar to the smell but has somewhat stronger flavors of citrus-grapefruit stands out in particular. It has a light to moderate amount of bitterness.
M: It feels medium-bodied, a little crisp and very dry on the palate with a low to moderate amount of carbonation. The dryness lingers through the finish.
O: This beer reminded me a lot of Lagunitas' DayTime, except that it has stronger hop flavors and lots of lingering dryness. This is a really nice selection if you want something that is packed with hops but is also very sessionable.

Appearance: Arrives with a pale golden color topped by a modest head; not much in the lacing department
Smell: Grapefruity, with just a hint of bready malt
Taste: Just a hint of bread, up front, and then the flavors are dominated by the grapefruit; slightly herbal on the finish
Mouthfeel: Light to medium body with moderate carbonation
Overall: Refreshingly light, with a very nice grapefruit character; I always enjoy low ABV beers that pack in the flavor

Transparent yellow with about a finger of head. Nice lacing. Quite deceiving as its almost pilsner looking. Smells piney and citrusy. Some pineapple and peach notes. Pretty complex hop profile for 4.75%. Taste has pine and citrus like the nose. West coast style hoppiness...Not much in the way of malt, but that's just fine here. Dry and finishes clean. Mouthfeel is light and airy. A great session and well made beer. Right up there with All Day IPA.

On tap at Ashley's in Ann Abor. A stunning "session " ale!
Awesome hop aroma, sparkling mouthfeel and unbelievably well balanced, super "west coast " hop taste, but an insipid lager appearance I haven't yet got my head around. Appearance is my only criticism!
Wish I was better at hop identification, but would guess Simcoe in the aroma. Flavors are a nice blend of citrus and tropical fruit, with a pine background. Finish is pleasantly bitter and lingers, but not forever. Overall an absolutely stunning <5% ABV ale.
Well done, Kuhnhenn!

On-tap at Kuhnenn. Served in a taster glass.
A - Transparent pale golden body, with white foam that settles to a thin cap and splotchy lace.
S - Pine, citrus zest, floral and slightly herbal hops. Not much malt presence behind all those hops.
T - The taste is again hop-forward, with tons of citrus zest, floral notes, and a hint of tropical fruits and pine. Light sugary malt in the background. Fairly low bitterness.
M - Lower carbonation, light body, smooth texture, and no alcohol.
D - Crushable stuff that you could pound all day. I'm guessing this was made from the second runnings of DRIPA? In any case, great session beer and hilarious name. I grabbed a growler, as I knew it'd get consumed pretty quickly by my friends. Perfect beer for a hot summer day.
