Thanks to Jason for the share.

A - Golden colored beer with a bit of white head that faded to a decent ring and a nice cap.

S - Everything at Kuhnhenn seems to be bigger. Big tropical fruit, big malt backbone. Alcohol is fairly well hidden, making this a little bit dangerous.

T - Strong malt backbone with some good citrus, tropical fruit, and a little bit of bitterness on the back end.

M - Smooth, medium bodied, decent carbonation.

O - Nice beer, pretty drinkable for 10%.

Reviewed from notes. On tap at the brewpub.

Pours a slightly-hazy dark brown color with a light tan head. Good lacing. The nose is really strong with quite a bit of pine as well as some generic citrus and grapefruit rind. The taste is definitely hop-centric with some nice bitterness. Feel presents really nice bitterness and complementing carbonation. Drinks well and is yet another really nice DIPA from Kuhnhenn. It seems like every time I'm back they've got a new one, and I certainly enjoy it each time.

Growler filled at the brewpub 10/4, consumed 10/5.

a - pours a bright amber color with a slight haze, one-finger white head with light retention and lacing

s - bitter citrusy aroma, lots of grapefruit and lemon, with a considerable piney smell as well, the lighter caramel malt backbone and slight booziness let you know this is most certainly a DIPA

t - like the aroma, big bitter grapefruit and orange hop flavors up front, midpalate has caramel malt notes underlying the hops providing a little depth, finish is still quite bitter with citrus and piney hop flavors dominating with only lightly sweet malt notes lingering in the quite dry finish, a little bit of boozy heat, but the 10% abv (I think the board at the brewpub said 9%, actually) is relatively well-hidden

m - medium-bodied, moderate carbonation, dry finish, nice alcohol warming

d - fairly drinkable for the high abv, the bitterness is intense but not overly wearing on the palate, flavor is pretty interesting and complex for a hop bomb

Really good DIPA from Kuhnhenn -- perhaps my favorite hoppy beer from them. Well worth seeking this one out.

On tap at Uptown Grille Commerce MI.

A_Hazy golden amber with a thick white head. Lacing coats the glass.

S_Heavy hops and citrus. Lots of grapefruit and pine in the nose.

T_ Spot on with the nose. Total hop bomb. Grapefruit, pine, and honey. Nice bitter hop bite. Very hop forward but nicely balanced

M_Thick,full bodied and sticky.

D_Very tasty and very drinkable. Especially for the ABV.

Thanks to Jason for sharing (and Olga for picking this up). Served in a wine glass.

A - Pours with a finger of foam that settles to a partial cap and thick ring, leaving behind spotty lace. Slightly hazed golden copper color that is evocative of apple juice.

S - Big tropical and candied fruit notes, plus a big sugar cookie malt backbone. Lots of pineapple, mango, etc. Well-hidden ABV, even when it warms up, although a hint of alcohol does emerge but mingles well with some light pine notes.

T - Taste feels more malt-forward. There's still a good amount of citrus zest, pine and candied hop. Nice residual bitterness.

M - Smooth, medium body, soft carbonation, and a little bit of warmth after half a glass. Finish is sticky and resiny.

D - More drinkable than I'd expect from a Kuhnhenn brew, but not as enjoyable as the DRIPA or Extreme IPA (when fresh).

Growler from the brewpub thanks to the gf's weekend trip home...Pours a clearish but almost medium copper with lots of nice tan carbonation. Unqiue pours as its so carbonated it pours a very muddy color, like muddy river water, but quickly the carbonation fades to the clearish color...Super nice aroma that is really malty balanced with a ton of pineapple, really appealing, hoppy finish but not overpowering at all...Taste is really nice starts off really sweet, tons of pineapple again. The finish is lots of grassy hops, slight pine resin creeps in...The feel is really nice, slightly warm, very tannic feel, almost chalky, just very full.

This is a really nice dipa that is pretty sweet, not overwhelming alcohol or hops which is nice and at 10% pretty drinkable. A light to

A- nice lacing, about a finger of head, orange amber color
S- wonder hop aroma of simcoe, Amarillo and summit
T- great citrus notes, followed by a bitterness that makes it easy to drink
M- surpisingly light for a dipa
D- very drinkable, especially in the summer. I could have several
Another great dipa from Kuhnhenn. Also made with organic Michigan malts, which makes it even more of a pleasure to drink.

(From notes)

A - Darker coppery brown hue with a half-finger of off-white head; ok lacing and retention

S - Piney hop aromas; some sweetness from the malt; a bit candied in the aroma, but still aggressive

T - Grapefruit-like hop flavors burst through and they're resiney as well; touch sweet from the strong malt backing

M - Oily and a little creamy; soft carbonation; coating and drying at the same time

D - Very drinkable for the weight and aggressive hoppiness

Overall, a great DIPA period.

Draft sample at MBGF Summer 2009.

Poured clear copper color with a large creamy off-white head that was mostly lasting with excellent lacing. Moderate earthyl and sour citrus hop aroma. Medium to full body with a slick texture and soft carbonation. Medium to heavy bittersweet flavor with a medium bittersweet finish of moderate to long duration.

This is a standout beer.

on tap at the blind tiger in a 12 oz tulip glass - pours a nice clear amber gold with a 1 1/2 finger head - smells very floral and citrussy - taste was just what i was in the mood for - resiney, and floral flavor to follow the nose - complex hops taste in this regard - nice finish, the flavor keeps coming thru - went down way too easy - i could drink too many of these too fast - i should've had another instead of the sly fox hop project i ordered, - -

Finally found my notes for this, geez what a night. Thanks to TheBlackMallard for bringing over this growler!

Glowing amber orange, with spider web lace and creamy foam.

Dank, sweet, leafy green hops, some woody funk, and a whiff of alcohol.

This is hop candy in the purest sense. Sweet and dry, leafy and resinous, rich caramel with a lasting resiny hop flavor. Full bodied and rich, medium carbonation, a slow sipper and very delicious. Thanks for sharing this one Craig!

Enjoyed on tap at the brewpub. This brewery makes several DIPAs, this is a very solid one, a good drinker with above average mouthfeel. Golden with foamy bubbly head. Significant hoppy aroma. Smooth mouthfeel and it tastes very good and balanced, with citrus.

Had on tap at the brewpub. Lucked out with a growler to boot.

Has a fair amount of carbonation to generate a suitable head. The growler fill was fairly foamy as it progressed, but this was also the end of the keg.

Solid rich coppery color. Slightly sweet nose. Not the hop nose you might expect for something this big.

The taste kicks it in, and lets you know, yes, indeed, this beer came to do business. The hops are not way over the top, as some variations tend to be, but are certainly enjoyable and very present. Several glasses of this would still keep my attention, and keep my tongue interested too

Really a nice solid XIPA. While not completely overwhelming, this is a super solid offering, and I will be enjoying a little more of a tongue bruising of this one tonight.

Pours a clean copper orange color with a short white head.

Scent of fruity dank hops, sugars, and candy. Sweet and hoppy, a great scent.

Taste of juicy, dank hops, sugars, spices, citrus and caramel.

Mouthfeel is medium bodied with strong carbonation.

Pours a clear golden with just a hint of wispy foam. Nice legs.
Smells mildly of pine and citrus. Mild malt caramel notes.
Taste is rich and dense of citrus and pine. They're very well mixed so that neither one stands out too much.
Very smooth and creamy with a dense mouthfeel. The alcohol is well hidden. I could pound this down till I passed out.

Deep golden amber colored wth a white small head that fades instantly.

Sweet malty aromas with citrus, grapefruit, pine some grassy smells as well.

Ahh here we go. Some residual sugars on the middle and finish lead into some resiny citrus induced hops that go piney on the finish. A sweet tart like flavor on the late palate. Very nice and tasty with great mouthfeel and a soft carbonation. Alcohol is very well hidden.

Appearance: Arrives with a cloudy peach color and a perky head that fades to a ringlet but leaves a draping pattern of lace

Smell: Primarily grapefruit with a bit of pine

Taste: Just a touch a pale malt up front and then builds in a very bitter pithy grapefruit direction by mid-palate; after the swallow, there is a lot of bitterness, but just a touch of residual sweetness on the tip of the tongue

Mouthfeel: Full body with prickly carbonation; warmth in the gullet, too

Drinkability: A really nice DIPA, that is just a touch too pithy to me but that is a quibble

On tap at Kuhnhenn.

Hoppy, piney, and grapefruit. Very fresh hoppiness here as I think this is one of the best DIPAs I've had on tap. Most of what I can describe is pretty standard to the style, but this is well put together. Strength is a little high and one is probably enough for a sitting. Recommended.
