HUGE thanks to StFun for this one! Small bottle. Wow! Nice reddish/brown pour with a very small khaki head that fades. There are a million things going on here! Amazing real sweet and sour raspberry going on with sweet malts, pie spices, crisp crust, and more. Amazing! Wonderful!!!

2012 vintage. Thanks to scoot1969 for this long time want! Tulip glass.
A: Pours a garnet color, slight browning on the edges, with very good clarity. Only a few bubbles distinguish it from red wine. No head or lacing. A second, more vigorous pour yields a ring of tan head.
S: Loads of rich, sweet raspberry and dark chocolate. Slight booziness.
T: Mild chocolate mixed with rich, sweet raspberry, very mild tartness. The chocolate is kind of an undertone to the raspberry. A lengthy finish. At the recommended serving temperature (45-55), an alcohol taste is only slightly noticeable, though there isn't a boozy burn or sharpness or anything. No way this tastes like a 15.5% beer.
M: Medium-full body, mouthcoating, and light carbonation which provides some structure. Slight syrupy-ness.
O: Like a raspberry-filled chocolate truffle. Nice digestif. Manages to be sweet but not cloying. If I had any complaints, it would be that the beer leans towards one-dimensional. But it succeeds at what it attempts.

Lucky enough to be in Detroit for work and they still had this on tap. Poured into a small wine glass.
It pours a clear deep red with brown hues and a thin tan head that quickly fades. The smell is amazing. Cocoa nibs and and fresh raspberries. I couldn't stop smelling it. The taste is even more impressive then the nose. It taste like fresh chocolate covered raspberries. I'm not sure how the keep the raspberries from tasting like a syrup and being overly sweet. The body is medium thick with medium carbonation and a sweet but not cloying finish. This is with out a doubt one of the most incredible beers I have ever tried. I'm really happy I was able to try some and really glad I made the choice to spend the money to try it. Easily one of the most unique beers I have ever tasted.

a really one of a kind bottle of beer here. all the thanks in the world to thebrewo for hooking this one up for me via trade. the pour is the least impressive feature, with brown and red meeting in the middle in terms of color, and only paltry carbonation resulting in almost no head. it looks more like a glass of wine, which is okay in this context. the nose hits like a freight train, super fresh raspberries abound. not like, genetically modified grocery store berries, but fresh picked off the pricker bush, middle of august berry. there is also some bitter cocoa in there too, giving the scent of chocolate covered fruit. the alcohol does have an aroma, but it isn't nearly as biting as one would expect in a beer over 15% abv. the flavor is a glorious combination of raspberries and chocolate and wood. I get so much organic fruit, not syrups or extracts, but straight up farmers market. the chocolate creeps in slowly, and is more like bakers chocolate than anything else. there is some sweetness from the berries as well as from the middle of the road malt profile. the alcohol isn't tasted until the very finish, but then becomes quite hot. as the beer warms, the alcohol becomes even more potent, but the beer still finishes with a drying feeling. carbonation is underwhelming, but that's indicative of the style more than anything, and the body is plenty big. its certainly a bottle to share, but one of the more enjoyable fruit beers I can ever remember drinking. thanks again to thebrewo for making this experience possible. its a trip in a glass.

#3000 for me, been waiting a long time to try this one. Finally gettin my chance.
This poured out from a 2007 vintage bottle, reddish brown in color with virtually no head on top. The lacing and retention basically don't exist. The smell is of straight raspberry jam and subtle malt, boozy and sweet. The taste is of tart raspberry with hints of chocolate in there also. The mouthfeel is thick, gently carbonated and smooth. Overall it's an impressive brew, would love to try a fresh bottle someday. Very glad I got to try it!
