2012 bottle poured into DFH glass.

A: Pours brown with ruby accents. Looks good coming out of the bottle. Not much of a head to speak of, although I am left with a frothy white foam around the edge of the glass. No lacing but some definite alcohol legs.

S: Huge raspberry jam hits the nose while pouring and is definitely the dominate aromatic element in this beer. Chocolate and caramel malt notes play a background role.

T: The raspberry notes are still very apparent on the palate, but don't dominate quite as much as on the nose. Raspberry is nicely backed by chocolate and sweet caramel or toffee. Sweet, followed up with some nice alcohol warmth in the throat.

M: Full bodied and syrupy with minimal carbonation. Coats the palette and lingers. Again, the alcohol warmth is apparent.

O: Extremely interesting beer. I've never had anything like this before. I'm sure this will develop significantly with some time, but I didn't feel the alcohol warmth was sufficient to detract from the experience.

First chance at tasting one of Kuhnhenn's beverages. No head at all, clear reddish/purple color; pretty uninteresting to look at it. Smells like a concentrated version of Hershey's Raspberry Syrup, in a good way; there's a hint of booze. Mouthfeel is very thick. Rasperries dominate the flavor but with more of a medicinal quality, a heavy cough syrup flavor lingers for several minutes.

This wasn't underwhelming, it was unpleasant. Would not be interested in revisiting.

375ml from the recent release into a snifter.

A. Clearish ruby-mahogany body, no head.

S. Perfumy raspberry, mostly sweet but with an acidic edge. Some caramel and molasses notes behind, alcohol.

T. Sweetish raspberry flesh, concentrated caramel, bready malt, sharp booze, some mildly medicinal syrupy notes.

M. Medium-bodied, sticky, no carbonation.

O. This is a bit thinner and boozier than I would have liked. Interesting beer, but not quite up to the hype.
