what can i say, i manage a liquor store, and i still go do a decent amount of my shopping at granite. jon is one of the most knowledgable BAs available to the public and its always fun to talk beer with him (mind you he will gladly for as long as you have). the selection here is phenomenal and always expanding and rotating. if you are ever in the area make sure you stop in and check it out. you surely will not be disappointed. just when youve lost hope and dont think you can find that special beer youve been looking for, give granite a shot.

This is the best place in the South Shore to get beer, and maybe even the whole state. My husband really loves beer and this is his favorite store too. He will find excuses to go here and I don't mind because it's great. Everything is well organized all over the store. The service is better than anywhere else. If you've made a few visits, they'll probably call you by name. John knows beer well and listens to what his customers wants, he takes good care of them. I don't know everything about beer, but according to my husband their selection is top knotch, and why would he lie? Worth it to go here for all the categories listed above.

I used to live in Weymouth, right down the street from here for about a year or so and it was my standby place. I was pretty new into beer and they had one of those mix-a-six locations on an end-cap and I was a fan. The selection wasn't huge, but decent when I went. Had mostly the heavy hitter New England Products with and general crowd pleasers. I came by today cause I was in the area and was most impressed. The selection has seriously increased. They went from a cooler and a few end caps to adding a whole aisle and doubled the selection on that mix a six end cap. They have good craft beer from all over the country, all the great expected brews like Stone, Rogue, Founders, Avery, Anchor Steam and many many more and quite a few selections from each brew. Their import selection increased big time. Having great stuff like Hobgoblin, Chimay, Delerium Tremmons, Samuel Smith, and the list continues. The prices were pretty reasonable, I've found some of their stuff cheaper at other places, but some of there other stuff was pretty cheap too. I gotta say I was impressed how neat the beer aisle was, everything was perfectly lined up as if a perfectionist set it up. I ended up just going with a mix a six today and there was a lot of good stuff in there. They had Troeg's, Samuel Smith, Great Divide, Anchor Steam, Sierra Nevada, Sam Adams, Boulder, Avery and many more. A little pricy $10.50 for it, but the selection is better than at most places. The service was pretty good too, the main worker I saw there today saw me strolling around for a while (I didn't expect to be there as long as I did) and asked if I needed any help and I explained to him I haven't been there in a few years and couldn't believe how much the beer selection expanded. He said they've really tried hard to get more beer there and if I had trouble finding anything than they can generally try to order it. I thought that was some pretty good customer service.
This is now my number one place to go. Customrer service gets a 6/5

Has been the closest beer store to me for a while, but never had anything beyond Sam and Harpoon. Until now! Steadily built up a solid micro section. They have a whole aisle dedicated to micros and it is growing. Decent selection in the cooler as well. Plenty of bombers kept cold. Complete lineup of dogfish, Lagunitas, Stone etc. Everything is kept neat and dusted, I noticed. They are trying to get the craft beer buyers in there and they are doing a good job now! Ask them if you want something different, too. They seem to want feedback and ideas for new beers!

This is for sure, my newest fav. in the area. The selection is officially HUGE! Not like a Lukes "All Fillah" more like an "All Killah".
We're talking about a good aisle and a half of store temp stuff and enough in the coolers to satisfy the most boring of beer lovers.
In the aisle I saw Allagash (Fluxxus 09)(Confluence)(Victoria Ale)(Tripel) Also, De Dolle (OerBier)and(Mad Bitch) almost everything from Stone including (Vertical Epic 09),Founders, Left Hand (Oaked Imperial Stout), Great Divide, Mad River and plenty of other staples.
The selection is still growing as I'm told from the "Bearded Beer Guy".
I felt the need to add to my review. This place has gone through the roof with the selection. They now carry Abbaye Saint Bon Chien 06,07, Both Sinature Ales from De Proef, Rochefort 10 and many other rare finds.
Fyi, "The Bearded Beer Guy" is there every Tue and Thur night. This is when I go as well so that I may talk beer while drooling and loading up my cart.
No more trips into Boston for really good beer....NICE.

Granite is my go to place and has been for the last year. The selection is top notch and one of the best in the state. I have been to all the best bottle shops in the state and I know of only one that is better and that is simply because they(Julio's) carry every release that hits the state and the sheer volume of beer they bring in ensures that their stock remains full for longer. Jon at Granite has a fantastic selection that is continuously growing by the shipment, and the freshness factor is unreal for all the hop-heads out there. The staff is fantastic and Jon really knows his stuff. I can recommend this place to anyone that loves beer and needs a new shop to grab some fantastic bottles. The beer tastings are pretty awesome as well.

Stopped in today and Jon was so helpful with a bunch of help and information on Sours that i have been trying to get into. The selection was phenominal and the attention to detail and freshness goes above and beyond. The price point was far better than most of the other local places on the south shore. There were so many beers that I had not seen begfore. This will now be my go to place from here on out. I really enjoyed talking to Jon and how much time he alloted my questons. Great job Jon and Granite Liquors.

Got turned on to this place via BeerFly close to a year ago and it has become my regular store for pretty much all my purchases. What was a decent selection a year ago has rapidly turned into the best in the area, bar none. If you have an idea of what you're looking for but aren't totally sure just ask for John and you'll be pointed in the right direction. He's clearly the most knowledgeable but, from my own experiences, not the only one who knows their beer here. Prices are on par with the area, some things cost slightly more, some a bit less. The mix-a-six selection is a decent deal, ($10.50 a sixer) if you can find 6 worthy beers. There have been times where I've come across old seasonals and beers past their prime and other times when I've seen (and benefited once) John hand a beer out of a fresh six pack to a customer on the house and proceed to put the other 5 in the mix-a-six section. Overall, for the selection and price alone on the South Shore this place can't be beat and the service only adds to it.

Granite is one of the few places I will buy my beer. Awesome selection considering the size of the place. They even have tags on select beers giving you the BA ratings. Ask for John, "The bearded beer guy" when you go in. He's the beer manager, and is always thrilled to talk beer and make suggestions. He told me he can usually fulfill some requests to, A luxury I look forward to putting to use. They are always doing beer and wine tastings. Usually about one every month or two, and try and turn the wine drinkers onto a couple of different brews they might like.
You get what you put into your beer store. The guys behind the counter know there stuff too, and are always super friendly and helpful. Don't be afraid to ask questions or give feedback. I look forward to giving these guys my service for a long time to come.
Edit: The more beer stores I go to, the more I realize how great Granite is. Had to bump the selection up to 5, it really is unrivaled. Especially on the South Shore.

This is my go to beer store in the Boston area. I make sure to visit this place anytime I am down in Weymouth to see my cousin DrDogbeer. Coming from upstate NY (Albany) I am always on the look out for stuff I cannot get locally. Granite has a great selection from places like Founders, Cisco, Hoppin Frog, Mayflower, Ballast Point and many other brewery's that don't end up in Albany. The staff is very friendly and helpful plus they are very reasonable with their pricing. Would highly recommend this place to anyone making the trip down to the Boston area. Props to the "Bearded Beer Guy" for putting together a great shop!
