12 oz bottle poured into snifter.
Appearance-dark brown almost black, darker then I expected, half inch light brown head goes away quickly. 4.25
Aroma-roasted malts, vanilla bean, brown sugar, slight Carmel. 4
Taste-deep roasted flavor, mild coffee, not that complex for a stout. 3.5
Feel-thick, little alcohol at first then dry dry dry. 3.5
Overall-good not great. With all the other offering around at this price point you can usually do better, but you could also do much worse. 3.75

11.2 oz. bottle poured into an English pub glass.
A: Pours nearly pitch-black, with ruby/blood red hues when held up to the light. Large two-finger, foamy head is gorgeous, but eventually fades down to about a 1/2 inch that retains throughout. Wonderfully thick beige lace is left behind as the beer diminishes.
S: Toasted malts, hints of chocolate or toffee. Slightly alcoholic undertones hit the back of the nostrils.
T: Full-flavored, bitterness from the dark chocolate notes. Light notes of coffee and malt. I'm detecting another sweet flavor lingering in the background, but I can't quite put my finger on what it is exactly. A pinch of hop bitterness as the beer finishes.
M: Silky, smooth, creamy. Mild carbonation. This beer has wonderful texture all throughout.
O: It's been said before, but I'm going to say it again. This is the pride of the Guinness line. This is leagues ahead of the Guinness Stout that's on tap in most commercial bars. This beer is a wonderful treat that I'd go for time after time.

Appearance: Very dark, almost black; medium head, light brown
Aroma: Sour; musty
Taste: Creamy; bitter; hints of dried fruit
Remarks: Better as it warmed up; but a little too bitter for me. I've always felt Guinness was a bit too thin for the style
Did not score A, T, S, M at that time; disregard those scores

A: Dark and cloudy, bottle pouring leaves a minimal head creamy head.
S: Typically lagers have less aromas developed but this is rich on the nose with dark burnt coffee.
T: Dark and hearty. Several layers of malt transitioning slowly from sweet initially to dark and bitter. No smoky malts or yeast esters both of which would be uncommon in this style but still a lot of flavor.
M: The burnt malt character and high alcohol give this a very dry finish leaving you thirsty.
O: Unlike traditional Guinness this beer is strong with lots of flavor. While not as well balanced as Guinness lager this is a truly a strong and flavorful beer. Immensely popular in many parts of the world, this dark strong beer is still drank year round, often only marginally cold.

look: 4.25 | smell: 4.25 | taste: 4.5 | feel: 4 | overall: 4.25
Dark, almost black body with a thick (one-inch) foamy light brown head, which eventually gives way to leave enormous chunks of foam on the glass. Smell is largely chocolate with a touch of roasted grain. The taste is bitter chocolate, with sour notes and a dry finish that leaves a touch of bitterness behind. The feel is remarkably light, with a medium, tangy carbonation.
