Regular Guinness is one of my go-to beers, but this tops it. It's like double guinness; tastier and gets the job done quicker.

A- I would call this an imperial stout, or maybe just an 'extra' stout. It's pure black with no chance of light passing through. There is a typical tan stout head. Head sticks around but unfortunately I couldn't find this in a can with the nitro-ball.

S- The base of the smell is a strong presence of dark chocolate surrounded by sort of a sweet red wine-like scent. On top of that maybe a hint of mint leaf. (very little)

T- The first wave of taste is that guinness black-coffee taste. Followed by a warming presence, but i am not tasting alchohol. The warming of the alcohol is covered by dark chocolate and a minty, red wine taste. (hard to describe the red wine im getting, you'll just have to try it)

M- It has a sweetened cocoa aftertaste, which is nice especially when pairing it with right foods. I have to say this is the first time i've properly paired a food with beer. I had rare-cooked spare ribs and it felt like the manliest, tastiest meal ever.

O- This has just replaced Guinness Draught in my book. Too bad it is pricey, but well worth it on occasion. If you like Guinness or any imperial stouts/porters, try this. I'll certainly be buying this again since I work at a liquor store. :P cheers.

Guinness FES is a most worthy propitiation for the rancid-in-comparison Draught. This is the beer that got me hooked on porters and stouts. I'm so glad they finally started importing it in the States!

Poured from a bottle into a stout glass. The color of the beer is a dark brown. Tan head is usually about half a finger thick or a little more. The roasted malt smell quickly settles in your nose and begs for a sip.

The taste is best described thus: as though a truck full of Draught crashed into a truck full of 70-80% cacao baker's chocolate. I find it to be a little sweet, which is why I took .75 off of the taste, because although it is very strongly hopped, the sweetness of the malt is a bit strong and it even overpowers the bountiful hops. It's probably to mask the higher alcohol content (which is nearly undetectable), but some drinkers may consider this a flaw. I am not awfully bothered by it. On the plus side, the sweetness nicely rounds out the "roasted chocolate malt" flavor profile of this beer.

Mouthfeel is incredibly creamy. Again, this beer is liquefied chocolate.

The aftertaste is a welcome bitter chocolate that lingers for many minutes after consumption.

P: 11.2oz bottle into a DFH signature glass.

A: Opaque black with a creamy light brown head. Lacing is generous and sticks all the way down the glass, leaving a ring after every sip.

S: Roasted malt, coffee, some earthy malt sweetness with a hint of alcohol.

T: Intense dark roasted malt that lingers on your tongue. Initially sweet, with a solid bitterness that builds in the finish, but with no discernible hop flavor. A little charcoal and alcohol as it warms.

M: Creamy and smooth, not quite the same as a nitro beer but very good given it's not. Moderately high carbonation comprised of tiny bubbles which I think adds to the smooth drinkability of the beer.

O: This is a really nice straight up stout. These days it seems like everyone is adding something to a stout or aging it in a barrel. Every now an then you need to be reminded of what the style should fundamentally be and I think Guinness hit it with this beer. Highly recommended.

A - poured into frosted tumbler w/ over 1" creamy head. body was dark chocolate and clear although opaque

S - notes of bitter chocolate - nice strong aroma

T - brought back the memories of the Guinness of old. After the Brits tried to dump all the other Guinness stouts on us. This is the only one and it is full of flavor. Don't bother w/ the other stouts from Guinness

M - delightful carbonation -- smooth

O - a go to beer for all the stout lovers and that includes me.

Poured a large crowning head of creamy tan brown head. Colour is black and thick. Retention is pretty good and has nice really sticky lacing on the glass. 4

S – has a sweet malt and spice character. Dry roasty malt with layers of underlying herbal and sweet malty notes, rum cake, espresso bitterness, a further interesting array of rich aromatics balanced together. 4

T – has a mulled spice character, sort of spiced cranberry sauce. Bitter caramel, very dry and rich, bitter coffee a sort of liquory sweetness and demura sugar, restrained creaminess. A bit syrupy, dry clove and smoky pepper spice. Finishes dry and roasty with a lingering dark malt character, restrained nutty (hazelnut) character. 4.25

M – Big maltiness with a underlying herbal spiciness, little carbonation. Drying tannic alcohol on the finish off of a big but generally drinkable big stout. A restrained creaminess and some subtle smokiness coming through to dry it out, nice crispness. 4.25

An interesting export stout, surprising level of herbal spicy bitterness. A lot of rich alcohol soaked coffee and herbal spice character, all balanced quite well. Interesting complexity and good feel, yet I would hesitate to drink this on a regular basis, a bit herbal-booze forward though balanced with a nice dry fruity finish. A very good beer, but not my favourite style of stout.
