P: 11.2oz bottle into a DFH signature glass.

A: Opaque black with a creamy light brown head. Lacing is generous and sticks all the way down the glass, leaving a ring after every sip.

S: Roasted malt, coffee, some earthy malt sweetness with a hint of alcohol.

T: Intense dark roasted malt that lingers on your tongue. Initially sweet, with a solid bitterness that builds in the finish, but with no discernible hop flavor. A little charcoal and alcohol as it warms.

M: Creamy and smooth, not quite the same as a nitro beer but very good given it's not. Moderately high carbonation comprised of tiny bubbles which I think adds to the smooth drinkability of the beer.

O: This is a really nice straight up stout. These days it seems like everyone is adding something to a stout or aging it in a barrel. Every now an then you need to be reminded of what the style should fundamentally be and I think Guinness hit it with this beer. Highly recommended.

A - poured into frosted tumbler w/ over 1" creamy head. body was dark chocolate and clear although opaque

S - notes of bitter chocolate - nice strong aroma

T - brought back the memories of the Guinness of old. After the Brits tried to dump all the other Guinness stouts on us. This is the only one and it is full of flavor. Don't bother w/ the other stouts from Guinness

M - delightful carbonation -- smooth

O - a go to beer for all the stout lovers and that includes me.

Poured a large crowning head of creamy tan brown head. Colour is black and thick. Retention is pretty good and has nice really sticky lacing on the glass. 4

S – has a sweet malt and spice character. Dry roasty malt with layers of underlying herbal and sweet malty notes, rum cake, espresso bitterness, a further interesting array of rich aromatics balanced together. 4

T – has a mulled spice character, sort of spiced cranberry sauce. Bitter caramel, very dry and rich, bitter coffee a sort of liquory sweetness and demura sugar, restrained creaminess. A bit syrupy, dry clove and smoky pepper spice. Finishes dry and roasty with a lingering dark malt character, restrained nutty (hazelnut) character. 4.25

M – Big maltiness with a underlying herbal spiciness, little carbonation. Drying tannic alcohol on the finish off of a big but generally drinkable big stout. A restrained creaminess and some subtle smokiness coming through to dry it out, nice crispness. 4.25

An interesting export stout, surprising level of herbal spicy bitterness. A lot of rich alcohol soaked coffee and herbal spice character, all balanced quite well. Interesting complexity and good feel, yet I would hesitate to drink this on a regular basis, a bit herbal-booze forward though balanced with a nice dry fruity finish. A very good beer, but not my favourite style of stout.
