I think this is the beer that Guinness Draught is really supposed to be. Beer pours a dark ruby with a beige head, nice lacing on the glass as beer is consumed.

aroma is of prunes and roasted malt, not a bad aroma for a stout,

taste is dark toasty malt with a touch of sweetness, and a bitter/sour finish.

mouthfeel is a touch thin for the style.

drinkability is very high.

overall, a solid stout, one I reach for when I don't want an imperial stout, tastes really good with New England oysters!

I did not enjoy this brew at all. It looked decent as I poured it into my glass, but when I took the first sip I was instantly transported to China because it tasted exactly like soy sauce. It sat there dead on my tongue and eventually the aftertaste was like teriyaki sauce. I had to pour the rest out and drink a Shock Top to ease my pain.

I would not recommend this beer to anyone that doesn't like the taste of chinese food in their beer. The dark color looks like chocolate but does not taste like chocolate liquor or chocolate or coffee anything. I was excited to try something new but I was not satisfied with Guiness Extra Stout. I will try a regular Guiness although.
