Black Bear Brewery is located in the heart of downtown Orono, home of the University of Maine. This small 10 bbl production brewery distributes draft beer throughout the northern Maine regions. There is a small tasting room with growlers for sale.

Trying to chip away at the Maine Beer Trail, and this one happened to be nearby some errands we had to do while I was visiting my folks in Maine. Orono is a fun little college town, and this brewery/taproom fits that feel perfectly. When you walk in there is an L-shaped bar with taps behind it, a couple of tables scattered around, and a popcorn machine. Very quaint and very fun. They had 6 taps available, and beer to go in growlers. If you find a beer you like I suggest a growler...I got one for $10 total. $2 dollar glass fee and $8 fills...fantastic. No food here, but you are right next to the best eats in the Orono area without trucking it to Bangor. Margarita's, Pat's Pizza, BearBrew Pub, etc, all within walking distance. Worth a trip up to visit if you are in the Bangor area for a while. If you can't make it up, Black Bear is distributing to a lot of the local bars in the Bangor metro and beyond, so you can likely find some of their flagships around.
