My wife and I stopped here on a recent trip to Michigan. The place is fairly well lit with a nice long bar. Medieval style decor lines the walls along with breweries numerous awards. There is an incredible selection on draft, over 30 beers, including a cask variety. All selections we tried extremely well done. Our bartenders were friendly, talkative, and good at keeping up with the surprising number of people that were here after 10pm on a Wednesday. We did have a chance to chat a bit with one of the brewers for a while also.
Nothing I write in this review could ever be enough. This is perhaps one of the best places to get a beer in Michigan - and perhaps even for better than 250 miles (or more). You would not be disappointed to go out of your way to stop here on whatever would take you in Dragonmead's direction - and if you live in the Detroit area and haven't been here, you're missing out. We will definitely be back on return trips (and plan more time also).

I seriously had the worst bar/restaurant experience of my life last night. The staff was rude, the bouncer was rude, the whole place was unacceptable from a customer service stand point.
When i joined my party it took 15 minutes before someone stopped by to see if I wanted something to drink. When my friend showed up 20 minutes later, first the bouncer came over to our table and demanded to see her ID (she looks young yes but she's 23 and he was incredibly rude in how he went about carding her) and then nobody EVER came by to ask her if she'd like something, she never even got one drink.
Then when our table got the check one of our group asked the server if they could charge $44 (of our $200+ bill) to his credit card, he was told that they do not do that because that would constitute splitting a bill which they REFUSE to do. He had already added up his total and told them how much to charge, not split anything off, just charge his portion of the bill to his card. Their response was "It's not that we can't do it, it's that we won't do it." ABSOLUTELY RIDICULOUS. What happens when a group only has credit cards? Is on perso. Forced to charge the whole bill on their card because dragonmead refuses to be accomodating.
Best believe I will never return there with my business. I will never even buy a dragonmead product at another bar. I will also tell everyone I know about how horrible my experience was there, and I mean EVERYONE, friends, family, and complete strangers.
I will happily go to the Falling Down Beer company (better beer, better food, and a better staff) with my business from now on when we want micro-brews. To be honest I would rather find a hole in the wall bar and drink bud light on tap before I ever return to or give dragonmead my business again.

Dragonmead is a beer lovers' paradise. Plenty of delicious beer options. I don't sample foods, but the beer options are admirable and tasty. Location is industrial, but with a pub atmosphere including steel tip dart boards and a lot of english oak. The theme is clear and the quality is here.

This was stop #4 on our pub crawl in a group of four people. It was still mid-afternoon and we were not hungry, so we were here to try some of the beers and experience the pub. Customer activity was picking up for the late afternoon and evening crowd, so we got the last table that was left before they opened the closed section.
There were 44 beers on tap, plus some meads and wines that are also made here, so the selection was excellent. We ordered two 5-glass sampler flights. All of them were very good and right on to style with some extra flavor kick to make them much better than average. Overall we graded them at a B+ rating.
There was a food menu on the table that had a limited selection of meat/cheese plates, nachos & cheese, a cheeseburger, a few deli sandwiches and pizza. All of them are reasonably priced, but we didn't order any food for me to comment on the quality.
With a beer selection like found here and the quality of the beers, it's hard not to like this place. We'll definitely make a return visit when we're in the area again.

Atmosphere: live music is just okay. otherwise just an average bar
Quality: dragonmead makes great beers. i have enjoyed both their belgian and english style beers. of which i have had a good amount.
Service: attentive and helpful but nothing perfect
Selection: this is one place i can go and have difficulty ordering because i want so many different things. i could go there on a weekly basis and never get bored
overall: definitely have some of the tastiest beers in michigan and i go every change i get.
