One sexy Hefe.
Had it on tap at Hop Cat, Grand Rapids Michican. I usually drink the Final Absolution but found this to be a nice change.
A: Lightly golden. Hazy with a nice white head. Good retention.
S: Wheat, yeast, cloves, apples, lemon, banana, and grassy hops.
T: Strong Bannana, herbal, cloves. Very clean, light and easy to drink.
M: Light carbonation, smooth and crisp.
O: very good

A: served in a weisse glass at HopCat, this hefe is straw in color with a touch of orange. It displays exceptional haze, but the head could use a little work. It came out nice, but the retention just wasn't good enough for the 5.
S: bouquet is well presented, with banana, pineapple, and grapefruit being the major players.
T: tart, with a refreshing burst of acidity that quenches any thirst. Semi sweet body is accentuated by the tropical fruits promised in the nose, and finishes with a distinctive orange juice aftertaste. I prefer more cloves in my hefe, but this is both within the style guidelines and delicious.
M: medium to full in body with a touch of tickling bubbles.
D: one of the better hefe's brewed in the states, which gives me hope that the days of sub par hefes from the states are coming to an end. Definitely worth it, seeing as how it is nearly as good as the German offerings without the hefty import cost.

On tap at the Dragonmead Brew Pub.
Poured a medium and cloudy yellow color with a small sized white head. Aromas of bananas, cloves and some wheat. Tastes of bananas, cloves, wheat, and citrus. The profile for a Hefe was there if not on the thinner and semi-thin side.

Went to the brewery last night. This was a decent Hefeweizen a little mild for my tastes. It's all there don't get me wrong. The banana, clove, ect ect...but it just didn't have a good bite to it. I think I just like spicier more flavorful Hefe's, but very drinkable none the less.

Hazy dark gold with a thin, bright white head composed of fine bubbles. Decent retention with streaky lacing. The aroma was mostly cloves and banana, faint sulfur. The flavour had a sharp spiciness with a little lemon. Unfortunately, the flavour fell away in the finish, leaving it a bit watery. Lightish body with moderate carbonation, a little thin. An easy drinking beer, but it seemed to be a little off.

I sampled this at the Michigan Brewers Guild Summer Fest.
A: Hazy golden-brown, very little head (or retention or lace).
S: Banana, pineapple, slight clove.
T: VERY heavy on the banana (I like it), malty bread, wheaty, slight hint of tartness.
M: Moderate body is creamy. Light to moderate carbonation.
D: Good. One of the better Hefe's I've had from North America.

Appears a cloudy yellow with a small white cap that fades into a thin collar.
Smell is of banana, wheat, orange, creamy wheat, and very mild sulphur. Brewed with the White Labs 300 and it comes through.
Taste is of the same aromas.
Mouthfeel is creamy, smooth, along with banana sweetness resounding.

Appearance:
Hazy yellow in color, moderate head that doesn't go away too quickly. Overall a nice looking wheat.
Smell:
Sweet bananas and wheat are the dominent smells.
Taste:
Very smooth and refreshing flavor. Banana flavor comes in quickly followed by a mellow wheat flavor.
Mouthfeel:
Mouthfeel is good but nothing special. I would like to have this feel a little thicker on the tounge.
Drinkability:
A very drinkable beer. Easy to have a few of these in one sitting.

Dragonmead can do no wrong.
Traditional hazed appearance. Impressive lacing clings to the glass for ages. Mashed puree of bananas and lemon zest scream out in the aroma. Feels exceptionally light on the tongue. A little watery and perhaps more creamy than lively. But nonetheless, refreshing defined.
Not inspiring or ponderous -- but very good.

Contains 60% wheat malt, Hallertau hops, brewed with a decoction method, OG=1.048. Lightly cloudy, pale golden, forming a decent white head atop small to medium-sized bubbles, with good retention and lacing. Aroma is lightly clovey, with strong bananas, and a suggestion of peaches and macintosh apples. Mouthfeel is soft with a brisk, wet finish. Mild carbonation makes this very easy to drink:) (I prefer my Hefewiezen's less carbonated than typical for the style). Clean ferment without off-products. Begins with delicate herbal hops and phenolic cloves, soft clean water, toasty pale and wheat malts, delicate yeast, and a nice lingering sweetness with fresh, well-balanced bittering hops. A good interpretation of the style, somewhere between a true Bavarian Hefeweizen and a dumbed down American version fermented with the "typical" American Ale yeast strain.
