Two words, PASSION and KNOWLEDGE.
While they have a great selection of everything and it is well laid out by state and or country and they have a generous make your own six pack program, what's great about this place is the knowledge of their beer guy. I assume there are more than one, but the couple of times I've been here I've spoken with the same guy, keep forgetting to ask his name. None the less, his knowledge is broad and unpretentious and he clearly loves helping people with their beer journey. A bit pricey, but that's Winchester for you. If anything, go to this place to day dream.

I have to go to the Woburn area overnight for business every couple of months, and by the time I get there I usually don't have the time to (or feel like) going too far.
This place is about 10 minutes away from where I usually stay. Been there maybe 4 or 5 times. I have got Brute, Hop Rod Rye, Port, etc.
They have a pretty extensive selection while not as great as maybe a place like Julios, they have so much more than I can ever find from store in Maine where I live. Staff is really friendly, they also offer a discount for mixed 6 packs and 12 packs.
The last time I was there inquired about the new Sam Adams Barrel aged series. They said they just got them in but they unpacked them got them out for me to purchase.
My only pet peave was that some bottles were a bit dusty. That being said, with the overall great service (which I have had each time I have been there) and the selection for that area of Mass. I find this to be a great establishment.

I must say that this is the best store that I have been to so far. I was very impressed by the beer selection that I found here. A wide selection from imports to great craft beers. A wide selection from the best Belgian beers from the Trappist breweries to craft brewers like Alesmith, Lost Abby, Troegs, and many others. The service was very helpful, many times I was asked if I needed help. The prices were pretty good and the mix a six section was a pretty cool surprise. I managed to pick a complete six pack of beers that I had yet to try. A really great experince.

I visited Winchester Wine & Spirits from out of state. Huge wine selection and large beer selection. A young man noticed I was studying all the beers they had and promptly asked if he could help. I advised that I was hosting a small community beer tasting and that ESB's and Blonde ales were the subject. He pointed out a number of the Blonde ales. We got into a nice beer discussion. He was knowledgable and helpful. Interestingly, they had no ESB's but he said they were looking to add some. As for Quality, I did not notice any dust on the bottles, yet I do not know how often their inventory turns. Alas, do not use the map from Beer Advocate to find this place. It sends you to a house in Woburn. Use the link to the actual store website and use that map. It gets you there. Value: Beers with a red dot indicate that a mis of these in 6 pack is $11. Many Stone, Ommegang, Allagash, Great Divide, Dogfish head are available along with many I haven't heard of.

I was up in Medford, MA staying with a friend prior to the Saturday NERAX session when he suggested we drive over to Winchester W&S to catch their Friday night beer tasting. Well, we were too late for the tasting but it was certainly worth the trip. Although their import section wasn't as extensive as other places, I did purchase two bottles of Hanssen's "Mead the Gueuze," that I had not seen elsewhere.
Their American craft brew section was more extensive, and I wound up with a couple of corked bottles of Port Brewing's Serpent Stout and a few Sam Adam's Tripple Bock. Yeah, that's right, they had a case of the 97 tripple bock just sitting there on the shelf. They weren't sure how it had been stored over the last 11 years, and offered no guarentees, but at $5.50 a bottle, I figured I'd give it a try. Later that evening we cracked one open and it was amazing. The next day I went back and picked up a six pack.
The folks at Winchester W&S were very friendly, readily offered assistance, and seemed genuinely enthusiastic about engaging the customers in beer talk. I plan to make this a regular stop when up in the area.

It a great liquor store, one of the best in my experience. Staff, young guys, are very knowledgeable, real fans of beer and seem to enjoy what they are doing - such a rarity in retail business! I attend the beer tastings pretty frequently over the last few months and have developed a taste for some fancy beers, and they carry a lot of those.
I also like the option of making your own 6 pack from a wide variety of beers for about $10-11, not many places have that. Because of those 6 packs, my Friday evenings are sometimes quite a journey ... or a trip ... no, a journey :) Anyway, very nice store.

You can see from my ratings that I am really high on this store. They have a great selection of micros, Belgians and all that other stuff that people are looking for. I always find something new to try, and they have beer tastings on a weekly basis to introduce new products. The staff are great and extremely helpful. They keep their word on special orders and call you when it comes in. The prices on 12pks are a bit high, but their 6 pack and singles are right where they should be.They also do mixed six packs for variety. This place is a real down to earth liquor store in downtown Winchester. Check them out.
