April 2016: 330 ml bottle, Cardinal Pub & Bar, Stavanger. ABV is 6.2%, IBU 52. Slightly hazy deep golden to orange colour, large white head. Aroma of fruity hops, hints of pine, smoke and herbs. The flavour is mid between dry and sweet, with fruity, piney and smokey notes. Fairly bitter finish.

picking up the citrus and the fait pine bitter. I get a tiny bit of malt but not the smoke nor the rye. Initially there was something going on at the finish that I couldn't place that had me concerned about balance but I didn't really detect it again.
Mouthfeel (Feel) = 10%
more body than I thought I'd get. not overly carbonated
Overall = 20%
I had a bad experience with one of their other beers so I wasn't expecting much. I liked this. A pretty good IPA. Weirdly it is described as "smoked rye IPA" on the bottle but it only lists the ingredients as "water, malted barley, hops, yeast". Weirdly still the bottle says "brewed with oak smoked wheat" They give tasting notes as smoke, pine, herb and I never got much of either of these but they didn't list the other hop notes which are very prominent. I wonder if the sloppiness in the label information carries through and they bottled the wrong beer?

Presumably kegged at imbc and listed as smoked rye
The smoked elements really bring out the tropical fruit flavours of the hops
REALLY WELL THOUGHT OUT ALE
