The brewery poured this for me while I was picking up a 1/2 barrel of the Black Duck Porter. I shared the growler with friends at Bellport Beer and a few customers too. I liked the strong pumpkin-spice taste that was creamy like Cappuccino and the first aromas were very inviting. I couldn't tell what the abv was, but the medium to light bodied ale was very easy to drink. Having tasted a few other pumpkin ales this week, I was impressed with the quality of this one. It has more of the nutmeg and cinnamon spices to it than most other Pumpkin ales.

From my Untappd history.
A: Slightly darker orange then I would have expected, but a solid orange color.
S: Getting clove right off the nose, mixed in with some other spices that I couldn't put my finger on at the time.
T: Fruitful pumpkin upfront with an accompaniment of spices rather than a spice bomb.
M: Coats the palate well with great carbonation.
O: A very nice fall sipper that has a good balance of fruit and spices.

From 10/02/12 notes. Had on tap at Ginger Man in NYC side by side with Cisco's Pumpkin Drumkin. I liked this one a little better; little less spicy.
a - Pours a dark amber color with less than one inch of white head and low to moderate carbonation evident.
s - Smells of pumpkins, gingerbread, nutmeg, spices, cloves, dough, bready malts, toasted malts, and light pepper. Nice gingerbread and pumpkin here and not too much spice.
t - Tastes follows the nose closely, but not quite as strong. Tastes of pumpking, gingerbread, nutmeg, bready malts, light spice, and light toasted malts. A slight step down from the nose.
m - Medium body and low to moderate carbonation. Pretty easy to drink.
o - Overall a pretty good pumpkin ale. Lots of nice gingerbread, nutmeg, and pumpkin in the nose, though it was faded a tiny bit in the taste. Easy to drink; would like to have it again.

picked up a 10oz sample growler of this about 2 hours ago. enjoyed from a greenport harbor pint.
a - brew poured a chestnut brown with a thin cream colored head that was gone in minutes leaving a thin skin of head and a ring around the surface of the beer. lacing was slick and spotty. although the color was dark, i could see through it especially when held to the light.
s - very festive. lots of fall spicing...like a craft store. pot pouri and pumpkins.
t - again very zesty. leafy. some nice hopping on the pumpkin and fall spices. definitely a twist on this one, but more in the realm of big pumpkin and fall spicing. i like it.
m - tingly. medium to light bodied...lots of festive spicing.
o - overall, this is more my speed...after just having a great south bay splashing pumpkin right before, this one is far superior for what i like in a pumpkin. not earth shattering, but a worthwhile beer to taste if you like pumpkin beers that are fall spiced forward. the hopping and leaf adds a unique twist on it too to give it some personality and distinguish it. i'd drink this one again, but as someone who is not gaga for pumpkin beers i couldn't drink it all night, but for the fans of the pumpkin, this is worth a try.

Notes from a growler fill a few weeks ago in New York.
Appearance is amber with a short white head. Its` nose contains cinnamon, pumpkin, a sweet aroma overall. The taste of leafpile has more of the spices, subdued malts, some vanilla that balances it out nicely with a sweetness. Mouthfeel is medium with low levels of bitterness in the finish. A good beer for the late autumn season.

Had this on-tap at The Double Windsor in Brooklyn
This guy pours a dark orange with a thin off-white cap. The aroma is mainly of fleshy pumpkin, nutmeg, cinnamon and allspice. However, the spices all take a back seat to the pumpkin. On the palate, this guy was sweet without cloying, and had a nice pumpkin pie filling quality. Medium body with light carbonation. This was a nice drinking pumpkin and one I would seek out.

On-tap at the Bridgeview Tavern; served in a shaker pint.
A: Bright orange body and a finger of off-white head. Looks like a pumpkin beer should.
S: Smells like a pumpkin you just cut into to carve. A twinge of musty hops are there too.
T: Nice pulpy pumpkin and earthy hops. No sweetness or spices.
D: It goes down easy and because its not sweet, you can drink it during dinner and not just desert.
Overall: In a seasonal sea of pumpkin beers that are actually pumpkin PIE beers, this one stands out. It reminds me of Smuttynose's. Good stuff!

An excellent example of the style Pours with a creamy ecru head atop a pumpkin ale-colored body. I know that was a cop-out descriptor, but really, it looks like any other as far as color goes.
Great 'leafy' smell upfront with bready and spicy aromas followed behind. The leafy smell identifies itself as fresh pumpkin in the taste, very pleasant, and a little different from most. A little bready and spicy with a light sweetness. This is not one of those dessert pumpkins that you can only enjoy one of. I can drink these back to back. Straightforward, yet layered enough for any to enjoy.

Had this on tap at Jimmy No 43's in Manhattan.
Appearance - slightly darker then a typical pumpkin beer. More brownish and slight head.
Smell - All the typical spices are upfront mainly cinnamon.
Taste - Fantastic. Was sweet without being overly sweet and tasted very much like a pumpkin pie. The flavors and spices were not overpowering and it was just a nice blend.
Mouthfeel - The fact that the beer wasn't overly sweet made it's mouthfeel really easy to drink. A tad more carbonated then I wanted but still good.
Overall - A surprisingly great addition to the pumpkin ale genre and would gladly drink again. Not sure how many I could drink in a night but something to look out for.
