Forget this place. Called for Citra and was told by the counter girl that it was in stock. Drove 30 minutes to get there and at first, the counter girl said she had to wait for an hour to get it because the Citra was buried somewhere in the cooler and she couldn't leave the register (it was about 11 a.m. and nobody was there except for myk party).
Then she got on the phone with the owner and said. oops, we're all out. Didn't even apologize for the inconvenience of a one hour round trip drive.
I called a little later that evening, and surprise! They had a couple of bottles left.

This is my local go to store! It's trying to build up its business. In talking to the owner, he needs much support to be able to provide his customers with the "rare" stuff. I support in hopes that they one day are able to land Russian River stuff. Andy is always hooked me up, as I'm a consistent customer. In the small business world, it's understandable that reg. customers be treated a bit better. If you go there just for a limited release and don't snow your daily support, what do you expect. This is a good little hidden gem that, hopefully with local support, will only grow and get better!

I was in the area one day and a very kind fellow BA member had told me they had cases of DogFish Heads Bitches Brew in stock. So on my way to the bruery's provisions store i thought I would swing by to grab a few bottles. When I got in the lady at the counter (an Indian lady) just starred at me, no hello, no welcome, just looked at me like i was a shop lifter or something. When I asked for the beers she didn't say a thing just walked to the beers to show me and walked back to the counter. I thought maybe she didn't speak English or something, but then how could she understand me. I saw 6 bottles left, I wanted to have good beer karma so i only took 4 ( was going to use them for Christmas gifts). I went to the counter and she then says oh only 1 per person. So then I told her how someone else I knew bought more then 1 and had no such thing told to them. She then agreed to sell me 2. So 2 days later I went back, was going to provisions again, and had a male (Indian) worker there who was much more helpful and agreed to sell me his last 2 bitches brews but the catch was the beers were now marked up 3 bucks more per bottle. I went for it cause i wanted to get these for gifts and couldn't find them anywhere else. But definitely won't be going back.

Tustin Liquor is a nice little hidden gem in an otherwise easily overlooked strip mall on the corner of Tustin Ave and Santa Clara in the city of Santa Ana. My first visit here was a couple of years ago and this place has come a long way since then. Upon entering , I notice the same two gentlemen working there who apparently are a permanent fixture at this shop. The more helpful of the two is named Andrew. Andrew's beer knowledge is a work in progress but he shows enthusiasm and willingness to help. The selection is surprisingly impressive. On my most recent trip I picked up some PtE, Blind Pig, Stone 15th Anniversary, Just Outstanding and the "last" bottle of Citra DIPA. The prices are on par with most bottle shops, though just a bit more expensive than Total Wine and Whole Foods. I recommend this shop. Andrew is a nice guy who's eager to learn and glad to talk beer.

Tustin Liquor sits next door to a Stater Bros Market on the northwest corner of Tustin Ave and Santa Clara St. What's with the half unfinished floor around the beer section? More on that later.
All the beer is refrigerated, and although it's on the small side, there are some highlights. Brands like Weihenstephaner, Unibroue, Maui, Victory, Oskar Blues, Stone, Bear Republic, Port Brewing, Erdinger, Chimay, Paulaner...even some PtE, though the few bottles they had in stock was rather "old". They still had lots of bottles of Double Bastard and Stone 12th Anniversary.
I was asked if I needed help by an enthusiastic young Indian on the floor. "Some people age these beers like wine", pointing to the Double Bastard I had in my hand. Cool. Oh, and remember the unfinished floor at the beer section? Turns out they're looking at expanding the beer section...getting more imports on the sales fllor. I'm looking forward to seeing it when it is finished. Until then, it's a solid place for beer.
Update: The selection has indeed expanded since the remodel, and it looks much nicer inside that it does outside.
