First had: on tap at 16 Mile

Clear golden-yellow pour with a small white head; low retention and lacing. Aroma of sweet biscuity malts, light herbal hops. Similar taste, pale biscuity malts, quite sweet, herbal, floral, and a touch of citrus zest in there as well. Light body. Not entirely bad, but not really my thing. A little extra crisp bitterness to balance out the sweetness might make for an improvement here, but overall, it's really just a blonde ale.

A - Golden pour with a white foam,. Nice clarity and slight carbonation.

S - Smells a bit skunky, with notes of fresh bread and light grains.

T - Clean refreshing taste. Very crisp barley flavor.

M - This is clearly a sessionable beer and it does that extremely well. Did not feel watery despite the light body. This is a beer where you can appreicate a subtle style done correctly.

O - If I'm looking for a beer to have with a heavy meal this would be a decent choice. Nothing wrong with some of the less extreme styles.

On tap at Circa in NJ.

This one had me wary as soon as I saw it; kind of an ugly color; pale and dull gold, with a small sudsy looking head that had almost no retention or lacing. Just didn’t look right. Aroma was quite faint; some vague citrus and floral hopping, grainy wheat and bread notes.

Flavor was thin and watery; the hops remained weak and undefined; again, citrus and floral notes that were mostly detected in the finish; lightly sweet malt and wheat; just a little bready; short dry finish with faint bitterness. Body was watery and thin with medium carbonation.

I appreciate an honorable charitable cause such as the one this beer supports but unfortunately the product was lacking and this was thoroughly mediocre, at best. I’d been meaning to try a 16 Mile beer for a while now and this was not a great first impression.

I really need to stop buying Blonde Ales. Why for me I know check this site before purchase? Oh well, into a nonic pint glass it goes.

A very macro forming somewhat bleach white head, meringue and sudsy, perhaps two fingers and falling quite quickly. Very slow rising carbonation to a very pale amber body, just some hints of orange squeak out in appearance.

Nose is very grainy, and a little off putting. Some rest brings a little bit of malt sweetness though, and as it stands it actually comes off very toasty for a blonde. I'll go middle of the road for this one.

Woha! Hello AFTERTASTE. Huge baked tight white bread and toast on this on the finish. Mid palate hits with very little to be impressed with, but the palate feel is very coated and thick for a blonde without a syrup sweetness. Finish as mention is huge and toasty, practically ripping grain.

Ya know I am not much a fan of this style, but I am going to remember this beer cause I am really enjoying it. At 4.1, even sessionable, I am even more impressed. It's not perfect by any means, but I'll easily take it over many other beers.

Sampled this brew at the 16 Mile brewery in Georgetown while vacationing in coastal Delaware.

Look: Lighter gold color with some haze. Head was a dense coating of white foam. Carbonation was typical to a Blonde. Probably is subjective to the tap setup.

Smell: Notes of biscuit and some slight grassy hops.

Taste: First was a very yeasty bread note with traces of fruity Belgian yeast notes. The hops seemed very light and grassy. Finish was fairly clean with notes of biscuit lingering.

This was a smooth and flavorful Blonde. It really is amazing how well-crafted this brewery's offering are for being so young.

Served on-tap in a plain tumbler pint glass at Port in Dewey Beach, Del.

A: Poured a very pale, clear yellow color with a two-finger head of bubbly foam which left next to no lacing. Carbonation was ample and clarity was paramount.

S: Very light, cracker malt aroma with hints of spicy grain and grassy hops.

T: Faint, grainy malts up front lend a crisp, lightly buttered cracker taste to the slightly vegetable/rice flavored brew. Some mild, metallic and grassy hops cut through to dry the palate and finish with a crisp, clean and light hop bite.

M: Very light, crisp, clean and dry with almost nothing to mull over or hold onto.

O: This is the light beer for craft drinkers in Georgetown, Del., and its surrounding areas. A true American blonde ale, it is not, but since it's not a lager, I guess it fits the category. At 4% ABV, I'm sure it goes over really well with the local BMC light "beer" drinkers. Outside of that; I'll pass. My favorite part about the beer is that portions of the proceeds go to a charitable cause. At least, I sincerely hope that's the case.

16 oz bottle into a pint glass.

Pours a clear gold with several fingers of bright-white head. This maintains a foamy ½ finger or so, hanging swathes of frothy lace down the sides of the glass. The aroma smells of fresh grass and lighter herbal flavors, with citrus tones (lemon is sticking out) and some underlying sweet biscuit notes.

That lemon character pick up in the taste, which is undercut by some light earthy notes and herbal tones. A gentle sweetness from the malts helps balance this and brings a bit of bready flavor to the profile as well. The mouthfeel is lighter to medium bodied, with a crisp carbonation on the tongue that then gets more slick and smooth feeling across the back that aids the drinkability of this.

I didn’t think this was so bad. Sure, it maybe isn’t the most flavorful American Blonde that I’ve ever had but the crisp and approachable body at least kept this decently quaffable. Plus it’s for a good cause!

12oz brown bottle with no freshness date.

LOOK: Crystal clear, pale golden, healthy looking head

SMELL: Delicate, soft, bready, clean, faintly floral

TASTE: Exceptionally smooth, wet, moderate sized body, crackers, faint peppery hop, balanced, biscuits, clean, dry finish

This beer is what it is and great at what it is as well. A lighter brew obviously the point, very drinkable with some minor intricacies to make it interesting enough to take another gulp.

A: Clear yellow/golden color with nice 1-2 inch white head.

S: There is a rather funky smell to this that overpowers a majority of what's going on in the beer. Deep under this you can slightly smell bits of wheat and a grainy scent.

T: Plain and very light. Not much happening here at all.

M: Very light, with lots of carbonation.

O: Boring, plain, and unmemorable! You could have fooled me in to thinking this was a domestic beer, and not a craft. No way on earth would I buy this again, and thankfully a portion of the money I spent on this goes to a good place.

A: Pours to a light amber color with less then a fingers worth of head that dissipates to a lacey veil across the top.

S: Smells like a toasted malt but there's a funk to this. Not sure if its the bottle or what. Over that, im getting light grains and wheat.

T: Light grain and some corn flavorings, with an ever light hint of malt. Kind of plain, reminds me of Coors light. Bummer.

M: Light carbonation, crisp flavor that disappears quickly.

O: Reminds me of a light beer, not a whole lot going on here.

A: Pours a crystal clear golden/yellow color with a one finger white head on top upon pouring. Decent retention leaving a thin cap on top. Lots of carbonation bubbles released from the bottom.

S: Light wheat, some grainy malt, and a slight sweetness.

T: Not a whole going on, some grainy malt, very very faint floral flavor and some corn flavor.

M: Light to medium bodied, medium to high carbonation. Crisp.

O: Overall, rather boring. Could be fine for a really hot day in the summer, but plenty of other beers I would reach for instead.
