A bottle into a pint glass.

King Titus has a dark approach, extremely brown bordering on black really with a firm tan colored inch of foam up top leaving notches on the way down. A nice looking thickness, with some gunk on the bottom of the bottle, this one is bottle conditioned. Smell is very clean, no bells or whistles, str8 up american porter. With the alcohol content I thought I would be getting into baltic territory, but this leans american with robust scent, and a backing aroma hop going in the nose. Faint cocco and roasted malt. Taste wise for the alcohol involved this comes off like a 5% regular porter with a mix of roasted malt and a generous hopping. The body is damn near perfect, smooth, silky, warming, not distracting. Carbonation is light, as this goes down like a liquid light milkshake. I drank this pretty quickly, it was smooth, i liked it.

Teku glass. Bottled 12/30/12.

A: Pours black--coffee brown around the edges, with a finger and a half of dense and very persistent tan head. The head recedes to a thick and sloppy ring with some streaks and dots of lacing.

S: Medium roast coffee on top of roasted malt, a touch of vanilla and chocolate.

T: Roast is balanced nicely with coffee and a hint of dark chocolate. Finishing dry with a long coffee finish.

M: Slightly grainy. Medium-light body and medium, lively carbonation.

O: A very well crafted porter, hitting a very good balance.
