Pours almost black with a giant mocha head that fades a bit, but leaves good retention and some moderate lacing.

Lots of roasted malt and coffee in the aroma. Not a ton there.

Lots is there is the flavor though. Lots of roasted almost ashy malt with dark chocolate, cocoa and fig to a small degree. Lingering chocolate/ashy finish. Ashiness isn't unpleasant like in some beers even though it is quite pronounced.

Full bodied and finishes very very dry and grainy.

Another wonderful beer. Nothing really stood out as I was drinking it, but it went down incredibly smooth and I was disappointed when the glass was empty so I guess that's an endorsement on its own. Great choice when you want something more full, but don't want to deal with sweetness.

Teku glass. Bottled 12/30/12.

A: Pours black--coffee brown around the edges, with a finger and a half of dense and very persistent tan head. The head recedes to a thick and sloppy ring with some streaks and dots of lacing.

S: Medium roast coffee on top of roasted malt, a touch of vanilla and chocolate.

T: Roast is balanced nicely with coffee and a hint of dark chocolate. Finishing dry with a long coffee finish.

M: Slightly grainy. Medium-light body and medium, lively carbonation.

O: A very well crafted porter, hitting a very good balance.
