Notes:
Our American-style stout aged on organic vanilla beans. Intense notes of coffee and dark chocolate lead way to subtle notes of natural vanilla. Flaked oats generate a silky mouthfeel.

A: Dark brown, almost black body with a patchy white-tan head. Pretty good retention.
S: Heavy milk chocolate with a little vanilla noticeable. This is one of those stouts that smells like a chocolate tootsie pop to me.
T: Rich cocoa, some roasted malt, a bit of nutty flavor and what I’m guessing is lactose. Just enough bitterness for balance. Full flavored but doesn’t stray into extremes in any area.
M: Medium-bodied with light carbonation. Very soft feel with velvety carbonation.
My second beer from Maine Brewing and enjoyed it very much. The vanilla referred to on the label didn’t seem all that strong, but it brought out the chocolate flavors nicely. Also the mouthfeel was full and smooth and reminded me of some of my favorite oatmeal stouts like Doubly Down and Dirty.

Poured from a 16.9 oz bottle into my Founders snifter. Thanks for the beer wittyname!
Appearance: Pours a dark brown/ black with amber accents on the edges. Has a nice looking dark tan head that doesn't last too long. Leaves decent lace.
Smell: Smells like a stout- nothing special. Nice roasted malts, a touch of caramel and chocolate. Couldn't get any vanilla.
Taste: Taste follows the smell, with a trace amount of vanilla on the tail end. Nothing really stands out, but it is well balanced.
Mouthfeel: It is thin, but this isn't an imperial stout. I think it's right where it should be.
Overall: This is a good stout. I wish it offered a stronger nose and that there was a bit more vanilla in the taste. It is very understated to the point you actively have to look for it. That being said, I'd definitely drink it again.

Poured from a 16.9oz bottle into a 22oz snifter. Bottle date 03-12-13 (my birthday!). Thanks dgthrasher!
A- Pours a deep brown/black. Huge 4 finger light brown frothy head. Head lingers for some time. As it falls, it leaves pillows of seafoam-like head. Moderate lacing. Nice looking stout!
S- Roasty coffee and chocolate. No sign of alcohol. Smells like Gayles chocolates in Downtown Royal Oak. They have a coffee and chocolate bar there. More vanilla comes through as it warms. Very subtle.
T- Awh man... I really had my hopes built up for this. It's good, but it could be better. Bitter in the back of the mouth and that's all there is in the extended finish. Definately roasty, but less full bodied than I was expecting. It leaves a burnt toast finish and no sign of vanilla.
M- Thin. eh... Just not what I'm looking for in a stout. It seems like that took a stout and added water. It's drinkable, but not in the way I wanted it to be.
O- I've heard great things about Maine Beer Co, and this is my first of their offerings. I may have built it up too much... I'd drink it again, but I won't actively seek it out.
