Notes:
Our take on an American amber ale. Complex malt bill delivers notes of dark raisin, chocolate and biscuit. Copious additions of American hops yield notes of pine and citrus.

Red appearance, ruby is a descriptor that comes to mind, it gleams. Solidly thick off white head that has damn good retention. Aroma was plenty hoppy, in a similar vein as Nugget Nectar, where you get both the amber/red kind of malt aromas and a heavy dose of hops (nugget smell from both).
Taste was delicious, immediately planting itself within the upper echelon of all amber beers. Unlike Nugget Nectar, this one got itself flavor wise to be a bit more than just brash hoppiness and bitterness, it allowed for flavor intrusions of all kinds, be it the malt, the hop mouthfeel of a vegetal nature, the caramel, the mild sweetness. This is the archtype. Hides alcohol very well. Its a hearty beer that drinks effortlessly. Hops still pack pine and citrus flavor beyond everything else. I wonder if there are magnums in here, there is a peppery edge to it.
Drank this the night before the Firestone Walker invitational, 2013, at our campsite at Lake Naciemiento before bedtime before the big event. That's a lot of "b's".
This is elite stuff.

Thanks to Chris for sharing this one at Ritual Brewing Company in Redlands, CA.
Bottled 4/9/13.
Pours a hazy copper with a foamy khaki head that settles to a film on top of the beer. Small dots of lace form around the glass on the drink down. Smell is of toasted malt, caramel, and herbal hop aromas. Taste is much the same with pine and herbal hop flavors on the finish. There is a medium amount of hop bitterness on the palate with each sip. This beer has a lower level of carbonation with a slightly crisp mouthfeel. Overall, this is a pretty good beer that is very pine and herbal hop forward.

A - 3.75 - Murky amber with an even, persistent, cream-colored head.
S - 3.75 - Smell is very faint. What's there is a nice mix of piney hops and caramel smelling malt.
T - 4.25 - A very clean piney hop taste continues through from the nose, while the expected caramel does not really. There's almost a char taste of black malt in it like you get with a stout. It's an unexpected and interesting flavor.
M - 4.0 - Medium body with slight hop abrasion. Very nicely and unexpectedly dry and crisp for what looked like it was going to be a somewhat viscous caramelly beer.
O - 4.0 - A unique and interesting beer that is easy to drink, maturely composed, flavorful, and well done. It's not quite the combination of things for me in general for repeated drinking, but I'm glad I tried it.
