On tap at Fremont Brewing in Seattle, WA. October 18th, 2011.

A: The beer pours a pale orange color with a very minimal haze. There is a one-finger head of off white foam that sticks around. The lacing is similar and does not dissipate.

S: This has a fantastic citrus hop aroma with hints of grapefruit, apricot nectar and mango. There is a hint of caramel malt, but the Citra hops in this beer are wonderfully fragrant and really dominate here.

T: The initial taste is one of caramel malt, but it quickly melds into a strong bitter hop note. Touches of pine, citrus, lemongrass are present.

M: The beer has a medium body with average carbonation. The mouth feel is dry yet oily.

O: Fremont knocked it out of the park with this one. They're not allowing growler fills of this at the brewery, so I'll need to track down some bombers.

Poured from a bottle into a standard pint glass.

Appearance: Pours a slightly cloudy amber with a golden hue. There is a finger of off white head and decent retention.

Smell: Some bready malt but the star here is the citrus peel hops. There are some fruity apricot like notes as well.

Taste: Bitter citrus peel hops hit the tongue pretty hard, but there is plenty of malt to back them up. The apricot notes from the smell are present. The finish is bitter.

Mouthfeel: Medium body with mild, tingly carbonation and a slightly dry finish.

Overall: I was very pleasantly surprised by this one. I hadn't heard of it before, but it was a great fresh hop IPA.

22oz bottle (bottled 10/6/2011) poured into a tulip. Pours a hazy glowing orange with a creamy white head.

Aroma is pure grapefruit. Wow. 120 pounds of fresh organic Citra & Simcoe hops per batch, 24 hours from harvest to kettle.

Taste follows nose. Nothing but bright citrus hops and clean pale malt. Really nice crisp bitter finish. Absolutely drinkable, thirst-quenching, addictive. I could drink one of these every single day.

Once again, Fremont shows that it's a force to be reckoned with. Just outstanding.

22oz bomber from the brewery

appearance: served in my tyranena mini-nonic, clear-ish orange-amber body, creamy white head with a light filmy retention

smell: lovely hop bouquet - tangerine, bright grapefruit, lots and lots of citrus

taste: a really nice freshly hopped IPA - had this on tap at the brewery and loved it. I think its funny that it was a $5 draft but bombers are $3.75. Lots of bright fresh citrus - tangerine, clementine, pink grapefruit. Great stuff

mouthfeel: light and fresh, low bitterness

overall: one of the best fresh hopped IPA's on the market
