It's that time of year just a few hours from the bulk of U.S. hop farming. Get 'em while they're fresh.

Smells very folral and grassy with a nice punch of hop oil. And there's a caramel malt backbone too. As it warmed I got grapefruit citrus hops.

Gold colored and kind of hazy with a decent layer of white foam head.

First sip gives me lots of citrus hop flavor and high bitterness. More sips give me a nice sweet malt base with honey and cheerios and some fruity yeast things.

Medium bodied and a nice soft carbonation level (growler effect?)

It's a very nice balanced Pale ale at 6% it's not quite an IPA but a little bigger than your standard pale.

22oz bottle (bottled 10/6/2011) poured into a tulip. Pours a hazy glowing orange with a creamy white head.

Aroma is pure grapefruit. Wow. 120 pounds of fresh organic Citra & Simcoe hops per batch, 24 hours from harvest to kettle.

Taste follows nose. Nothing but bright citrus hops and clean pale malt. Really nice crisp bitter finish. Absolutely drinkable, thirst-quenching, addictive. I could drink one of these every single day.

Once again, Fremont shows that it's a force to be reckoned with. Just outstanding.

I used to think Big Time brewing was the best Seattle brewery. Ever since Bill Jenkins left Big Time (former head brewer) I've been calling Fremont Brewing the best Seattle brewery (that's not a dis on Drew the new brewer at Big Time, I haven't had a chance to try much of his stuff yet). Anyway, with this beer, Fremont once again proves to me that they're worthy of such lofty acclaim.

When I see an IPA this color, golden with a splash of autumn orange, I usually know I'm in for a treat. The darker orange the IPA the sweeter it usually seems to be ... and I'm not a fan of sweet IPA's. This one settles into the glass with a dense looking off white head that doesn't stay around too long but does leave some pretty lacing behind.

One whiff and wow ... green hops invade the nostrils. There's a bit of caramel lurking in the background that really fills the aroma out nicely. The dominant note though is definitely fresh hops: Pine needles, orange wedges, and pineapple. Marvelous.

Oh hello citrusy orange and caramel, nice to meet you here! I think I'll take another sip and meet you all over again. Wait, is that our friend Pine Tree over there in the corner with Bitterness? Yes, why tell them to get over here. I like Bitterness, and this particular guest seems to linger a long time.

Really, this tastes great and is absolutely one of the best examples of a fresh hop IPA I've had. This is a beer that makes me wish it was hop season all year around.

22oz bomber from the brewery

appearance: served in my tyranena mini-nonic, clear-ish orange-amber body, creamy white head with a light filmy retention

smell: lovely hop bouquet - tangerine, bright grapefruit, lots and lots of citrus

taste: a really nice freshly hopped IPA - had this on tap at the brewery and loved it. I think its funny that it was a $5 draft but bombers are $3.75. Lots of bright fresh citrus - tangerine, clementine, pink grapefruit. Great stuff

mouthfeel: light and fresh, low bitterness

overall: one of the best fresh hopped IPA's on the market
