Enjoyed from a Growler that my homebrew partner picked up while just up at the brewery recently. Poured vibrant golden/amber with a thick white head.
Aroma had lots of woodiness here that blended with floral, fresh hops. Tasted very malty with a strong balance on the hops. Citrus and other tropical-like fruits. Very dry in the finish. Little bit oak and warming wood tones, ginger, vanilla, almonds, hops gave off a leafy earthiness, and some malted grains for balance.

On tap at Barry's (Beer Authority):
A: Typical light yellow color. Inch of head.
S: Not that much. Some hops and barely anything from the wood.
T: Very flavorless which was disappointing. First beer of the afternoon as well so my palate was clean.
M: Well carbonated.
D: Very drinkable but I don't know why anyone would want to? Many many better local beers out there - including others from this brewery.

From notes.
It's a slightly hazy yellow in color; it has a small ring of foam.
It smells slightly of citrus and slightly of sweet caramel. Not to strong of a smell.
The taste a slight citrus grassy presence of hops a tad bit of malt sweetness. The beer ends with a light but noticeable wood taste. It doesn't have the vanilla flavors many associate with wood beers. It just tastes like someone put a tree in a pale ale. It is quite unique and not bad tasting but is a bit bland and rough around the edges. Quite a light and drinkable beer drinking the growler was quite easy.

Poured a dep yellowish color with good carbonation and a small white head. Nose is faint hops, some grain abnd not much else. Taste is pretty plain, strightforward, I did not get any of the oak influence or the dry hopping. Not a bad beer but not a standout by any means.

This is a version of Fremonts Universale Pale aged in charred white oak barrels. I found the base beer to be a basically average Pale. This beer was a deeper color, call it dark straw. The head was still white and moderate retention and lacing.
There is an earthiness to this version not found in the basic beer, and it made for a more enjoyable quaff. The body and drinkability were also a step up. Maybe it's time for me to revisit the base brew. If you're in the Seattle area, this beer is worth seeking out.
