This pours a dark burnt orange with an ample white head.
Fresh aromatics of pine & citrus w/just a hint of white peach.
Clean, crisp refreshing IPA. Quite balanced with just enough bitterness.
Medium bodied & quite approachable. Easy to drink.
This is an excellent NW IPA. It has enough complexity to make one slow down & savor it, but also is crisp & approachable enough that it can be enjoyed in a social setting without pausing to "consider" the quality of the beer. The hops show just enough bite & linger beautifully on the palate. Can't recommend highly enough.

Thanks, Bruce!
Pouring a hazy orange with a dense off white head with good retentioncme sticky lacing, this looks solid. The nose is solid too. Fruity, piney, perfumey with some citrus rind and grapefruit, along with a touch malt. The palate is a blend of fruity hops, moderate bitterness and some sweetness. Pine and grapefruit are noticeable. The sweetness is more a honey like flavor than caramel's and so, it does complement the hops. Medium light in body, and moderately carbonated, this beer feels quite good on the palate. Solid stuff.

The beer is transparent and golden hued with a half inch of sticky, white head. The aroma brings hops, pine, resin. Clean and refreshing. Smooth on the palate, despite a healthy amount of hop biterness. Hop forward, but certainly not a hop bomb. Nicely balanced, with some bready malts in a supporting role. Light bodied with minimal alcohol presence and appropriate carbonation. Overall, this was solid.

12 oz can, thanks Rich.
Pours a hazed, yet clear golden copper with a dense off white head that fades to a thin layer and plenty of lace. Nose of orange, lemon, biscuit, and grass. Medium thick body, moderate carbonation, a leafy and chalky finish. Leafy hops in flavor with a little citrus sweetness, but not much bitterness

Thanks to jmgrub for sharing this one at mhksuccess' tasting.
Pours a hazy gold with a foamy beige head that settles to a film on top of the beer. Small streaks of lace form around the glass on the drink down. Smell is of malt, citrus fruit, and citrus zest. Taste is much the same with some herbal hop flavors on the finish. There is a mild amount of hop bitterness on the palate with each sip. This beer has a lower level of carbonation with a slightly crisp and medium bodied mouthfeel. Overall, this is a pretty good beer that is tasty and easy to drink.

Finally comes in a can! It didn't have a date stamp, but it had a tag from the store that shows 9/28/2012. So probably maybe it was canned 3 weeks ago or so.
I see this around pretty much everywhere I go and this is the first time trying this.
A: Orange body with 2 finger frothy head. Lots of lacing.
S: Citrus, pine, some sweet malt.
T: Malt forward, very sweet up front. And then hops kicks in. Quite sticky and oily. Slight bitter finish from the hops, but not overly bitter. Orange, citrus, pine-y bitterness, grapefruit.
M: Good amount of carbonation, sticky (as mentioned above), not much alcohol detected though.
O: Quite nice. Not my favorite or anything but I could have this with pretty much anything, any day.

A- Inch tall white fluffy head on light copper bodied beer. small sediment is visible. Clumpy drink-by-drink step lacing, excellent head retention.
S- Mmm citrus on the nose, more specifically oranges
T- Sweet maltiness turns to bitter citrus in a hurry. Fairly balanced overall but I'm giving the bright hoppy bitterness the edge. Finishes with a combination of lemon zest and breadiness. Drinks lower than 6.5%abv.
M- Medium mouthfeel, medium carbonation.
D/O- Omnom, I just wanted to glup this down. Good sessionable IPA from Freemont. Lowish ABV makes it possible to kill a 6 pack over a sunny late summer afternoon....too bad I only had one. Thanks ArchEnemyBrew!

This is my favorite IPA in Seattle currently, and probably my favorite IPA period. If you want to categorize it, it's closest to the Southern California IPA style (think Blind Pig) rather than "Northwest style" (maltier). I'm very excited they're canning it now. You can get it at Whole Foods or the brewery, and a couple other grocery stores (hope they distribute more though!).
12oz can poured in pint glass.
A: golden color with great clarity but some floating yeast particulates. (not filtered?)
S: Strong aroma of citrus and grapefruit hops. Seriously this beer has a stronger hop aroma than some fresh hopped beers I've tried. The citrus + grapefruit combination is my favorite in an IPA.
T: Abundant citrus and grapefruit hop flavor up front. Some piney hop flavors follow. High bitterness (about average bitterness for an IPA). Not much malt flavor (how I like it). A touch grassy in the finish.
M: light bodied with a dry finish and medium-high carbonation.
O: A supremely drinkable beer. Well rounded and amazingly fresh hop flavors and aroma. Perhaps even more importantly, they're consistent. I've had Fremont IPA off-and-on about 6 months now, and it's always consistent.

thanks to ArchEnemyBrew for send this brew my way! Thanks hollis!
poured into tulip glass.
Appearance: brilliant golden bodied beer with 3 fingers white of head! Head drops down to a chunky cap and has coated the glass with nice curtians of lace.
Smell: lots of fresh smells from this beer. Multiple citris notes mixed with pine needles. Floral and spicy hops. Little bit of danky stanky hops. A touch of malt sweetness.
Taste: low end of moderate hop bitterness from this hop forward beer. Juicy oranges and pineapples. Pine, grapefuit, and a touch of lemon zest. Just a hint of malt sweetness. The hops follow all the way through to the end of the beer with a mild lingering bitterness. it tastes of pine and grapefruit.
Mouthfeel: high end of a light bodied beer with moderate carbonation. Really drinkable, fresh, crisp beer. Well carbonated. The bitterness makes the feel just a little heavier than it really is, but thats okay. I would still say this is a session ale.
Overall: Can fremont make a craft beer that sucks? I am not sure its possible at this point. I have tried multiple beers from them and they are all great. This is an awesome ipa that is meant to be a session ale. Its canned which is another added bonus. Fremont delivers what they set out to do with this beer.

12oz can. Pours a hazy burnt orange color with an inch of thick, frothy head. Tons of sticky lacing. Great nose of tropical fruits; pineapple, mango, papaya and some citrus hops. Taste is more of that great tropical fruit flavor. Bitter orange peel finish. Nice amount of hops throughout. Drinkable and delicious. Medium bodied. This one smelled great and did not disappoint. Overall, I want more of this beer for sure.

it's good to be black
a: bomber split into a shaker pint, producing a nice little head of off-white carbonation that retains a good layer, the beer itself a pale golden-amber in color
s: pale malts with some bready notes, nice hop aroma in good balance - orange, tangerine, passionfruit - floral and vivid
m: carbonation around moderate in level, light-medium bodied, crisp
t: clean pale malt structure - light on the palate and only slightly sweet, good balance of fruity, citrusy hops bring flavors of sweet and bitter citrus and tropical fruits - orange, grapefruit rind, passionfruit
d: really nice little ipa - great fruit character from the hops really sets it off, light and refreshing, drinkability high

Crisp and perfectly transparent, it's a beautiful light amber. Solid almond meat head that likes to hang out on top and prop up the walls.
Pine and almost like some cardamom? I may be hallucinating there, but it's an appealing if unorthodox spice note. All the usual suspects are there: green hops, some northwest pine trees, some floral (sweet though, not as hoppy floral) almost clover, intriguing prelude...
It's so good... once it hits your lips it so good
Actually starts off kind of sweet, following that clover/flower sweetness from the nose as the setup for the knockdown of earthy and spicy hops. Manages to balance these two components without coming off sticky or unbalanced or like there's something missing in the middle.
The aftertaste gets into earthy and citrus, and just kind of hangs around even though the lights are on and everyone's gone.
Real drinkable and a unique and delicious brew. I usually pick one up when I'm in Seattle

Food Pairing: (1) My roommate's special "Poor Man's Rice", a concoction of steamed rice, fried eggs and spicy kimchi with soy sauce and sesame oil. Great with the kimchi, everything else, nope nope and nope. The beer dominated the other flavors, while the starchy-eggy feel of the food refused to acknowledge it whatsoever. (2) Pepperjack, Sharp and Mild Cheddar cheeses. The mild really intensified the aftertaste of the beer, to an unpleasant degree as it took on a distinctly metallic quality, however the creamyness of both was nicely elevated. Sharp was very nice, the two complimenting one another throughout. Pepperjack was also very nice, and while I think the flavors might not have matched as well as the Sharp, the spice of the cheese was fun playing off the bitter qualities of the beer.
A - Bubbly head over golden/ orange, and nearly bubble-less body. Head reduces to a thin layer which left some lacing.
S - Floral, white grapefruit, spicy. Quite aromatic.
T - Cream right up front, introducing a light, sweet floral flavor which is quickly followed by spicy hops biting down the sides and back of the tongue. There's a good balance here.
M - Light, but then again also undeniably creamy, almost buttery. Leaves a bit of a fullness which is satisfying, but you want to drink more.
O - Interesting brew for sure. Maybe not the "session beer" its label makes it out to be, but that isn't a bad thing. And while good on its own, I'd love to try this beer again with some food better suited for it. Something tells me that's really where it would shine the brightest.

Poured from a bomber into a pint glass in high elevation Libby, Mont. No best-by date. Reviewed live.
A- Two and a half finger head, brimming out of the glass. Long retention. Impressive white lacing. Orange-amber color with medium clarity. Attractive looking beer.
S- Pine and citrusy hops. Chinook maybe. The bottle says Amarillo is also there. I get a whiff of that, but the northwest hops are stronger. Buttery and floral. Interesting smell. Appealing, but not terribly.
T- Bitter and smooth flavor. Earthy and piney northwest hops. Creamy sort of flavor, maybe from the earthy malts and Amarillo hops. Above average.
M- Creamy, fairly wet finish. Sticky, but not overly sugared. Nice feel.
O- Above average IPA, great look, just slightly above average in other categories.

22oz bomber served in pint glass. Beer pours a pale straw color with a thick off-white head. Beer is crystal clear though some sediment remains in the bottle. Extremely floral and pleasant hop aroma on this one.
The beer itself is a hop-heavy and malt-light, brining across the classic West coast IPA onslaught of IBUs. Actually the hop load is stronger in the beta acid load than alpha, but this only accentuates the "hi, would you like a glass of hops?" effect. This beer is seriously resiny and it shows in the lacing. There's just barely enough pale malt to balance it out, and even then probably not enough for all -- this is an IPA lover's IPA.

Fremont Interurban IPA is a solid beer. The color is a little more amber than a golden. It is carbonated at just the right level to give it a good mouthfeel and leaves a pretty thick head when poured. Not too malty. Not too hoppy. Aroma is a little on the weak side. Hop flavor is mellow. Slightly bitter. Solid IPA.

Big thanks to Matt (mfavoino) for sending this guy my way. Bomber served in a Bell's stemmed tulip.
A: Pours a chilled orange color with some a big foamy head forming on the pour. Great retention. It recedes slowly to a massively thick ring and leaves great, sticky webbing down the whole glass.
S: Nice tropical fruit bursts. Some pineapple and melon. Sweet doughy malts on the back end.
T: Nice pear, apple and mango flavors. There's a little grass in the middle and the finish is cleansing sweetness from some cracker-like malts.
M: Medium to light bodied and a solid carbonation level makes this guy an easy drinker.
O: This was very, very solid and highly drinkable. I was stunned at the price point ($5.99) for this guy and would be frequently buy it if I had access. Great value beer.

Appearance: The beer presents a clear amber liquid capped by a modest head that still leaves a copious amount of lace
Smell: A touch of the biscuit in the background with gobs of tropical fruit dominating; a touch vinous
Taste: As it smells, the tropical fruit flavors dominate, with papaya, pineapple and tangering; a slightly vinous character arrives, after the swallow, but the overall flavor profile is tropical and citrusy with just a hint of the malts
Mouthfeel: Medium body with moderate carbonation
Overall: Love the hop profile here, with all of the tropical flavors; rather unique and tasty

On-tap at Brouwer's in Seattle. Enjoyed 19 June 2012, reviewed from notes.
Pours clear medium amber, brought with a cap of yellowish foam. Fantastic lacing, bright colors. Nice.
Smells like resiny hops with a pinch of citrus. Nose-tingling floral aromas. I like it.
In the taste, I find the malt base to be a bit under-powered. Sticky, earthy, resiny bitterness. The hop bitterness is lasting, but I find the flavor to be lacking much else.
Mouthfeel is decent. A bit watery, with lower carbonation than I want.
A decent, simple IPA. Smell is the highlight, but the malt base and hop flavors don't measure up to my favorite examples.

Had on tap at Revel. Review from notes.
A: Pours a copper/amber color with a one finger beige head on top, pretty thick with nice retention. Some foamy lacing forms on the glass.
S: Nice citrus aroma, grapefruit, orange rind, and a bit of pine. There is a bit of sweet malt and caramel on the back end.
T: A very nice IPA, more tropical/citrus fruits, chiefly grapefruit, with orange, and orange zest. A bit of light caramel and grainy malt.
M: Medium bodied with moderate carbonation.
O: A pretty good IPA, easy enough to get too!

P: Bomber brown bottle, poured into a tulip glass.
A: Semi-cloudy, dark golden, brassy hue…HUGE white head with...what's that? Fresh hops floating around in the head!!!Also, leaves behind some fluffy rings of lacing.
S: Mint, marmalade, faint caramel, ripe pear, Orange citrus, lemon juice, light florals and grass.
T: Very smooth, deep crispness, hop bitterness… Upfront there is pineapple… lemon juice followed by leafy, dried grass, lightly toasted bread, clean caramel notes mid-palate. Finishes with pine and grassy floral…drying finishes…
M: On the fuller side of medium bodied, juicy, crisp and bitter.
O: Very clean, Very drinkable. SOOO FRESH (the floating hops in the head illustrate how fresh this beer is & tastes)!! Just an outstanding American IPA all around… pretty much nailed it with this one!!!

Pours a golden amber with orange tint in glass. 1/2" head with slippery lacing. Head flattens out quickly but sticks around a while. Plenty of bubbles with a light-light haze.
Smells of almost lemony hops. Bright pears with hints of orange maybe nectarine. Blasts of fruity hops here.
Almost a grapey hop taste. Like a grape cigarillo. Aftertaste of thick flavorful wheat. Alcohol flavor a little heavy, seems thicker and heavier than it's 6.2% bottle reads of. Snappy, dry finish. Like with most IPAs, leaves you quickly wanting more.

On tap at pub 124 in Walla Walla today.
The beer pours an orange amber color with good head retention and lacing. On the nose, this beer is quite attractive, showcasing considerable orange citrus, pine and black pepper. This beer smells great, and is nearly as good on the palate. There is considerable orange citrus on the palate, but the beer also has a long, bitter finish that is very nice. Mouthfeel is medium bodied, but the moderate orange sweetness is nicely countered by the wash of bitterness in the finish. Alcohol is well integrated into the flavor profile, though there's a hint of heat from alcohol in the finish. Otherwise, this is a very attractive, very easy to enjoy IPA from Fremont Brewing.
I would order this beer again in a heart beat.

Thanks to thirdeye11 for sharing this bottle.
The beer pours a yellow color with a white head. The aroma is fairly balanced overall. I get some nice papaya and other tropical fruit notes, with some bread and biscuit malt thrown in as well. The flavor is more of the same. I get a lot of papaya, mango and other fruit notes, with the bread and biscuit malt keeping the bitterness fairly low. Medium mouthfeel and medium carbonation.

Review from 4/2011 notes. Poured into a Black Raven pint glass. Pours a clear medium red-orange amber. Slight whitehead and light lacing. Aromatic hop and sweet malt aroma. Taste starts semi-sweet, grapefruit and malty with a hop kick. Dry, hoppy finish with lingering hop bite. A bit astringent in the finish, but nice progression. Medium body and nicely carbonated. Quite impressive for a non-imperial IPA. I will buy this again
