Poured into a tumbler pint at Savage's Ale House, Muncie IN.
Appearance - 3.5
Dark, dark brown, with a chocolate highlight. Creamed-coffee colored head 1/2" thick at pour, which settles down to a small ring after a few gulps. Tiny speckles of lacing line the glass all the way down.
Smell - 3.0
Malty sweet coffee smell, with nothing too prominent. Not a very fragrant beer.
Taste - 2.5
A slight roasted coffee taste. Aftertaste is a little burnt. Doesn't stick well to the palette. It's not an aftertaste I want to savor.
Mouthfeel - 3.0
Full-bodied, but seemingly light for a stout. Pretty smooth, but not as creamy as I prefer a stout to be. Tiny bit of fizz may take away from that creamy body I like.
Overall - 3.0
An average beer. Nothing too impressive, but I'm not terribly disappointed. It fits in with my impression of Sun King, as just average. I hate to diss a home-state beer, but Sun King just doesn't do it for me.

Deep brown color with some lighter edges. Head fades quickly to a thin ring, but leaves some nice patches of lace.
Milk chocolate in the nose with some roasty notes. Sugary, sweet smelling aroma.
Roasty notes, without a great deal of sweetness. A bit dry and sharp, with a dash of bittersweet chocolate.
Lacking a bit in body, with fine carbonation. Easy to drink. Nothing overwhelming, but nothing terribly disappointing.

A - Looks watery...dark coffee color. Short tan head which does not last long.
S - Smoke and burnt coffee beans.
T - Coffee grounds with some malt.
M – Light bodied and higher carbonation than I expected for a stout… thin and watery. Not my favorite combination for the style.
O – I wanted to like this one, but it was not doing it for me. My least favorite Sun King brew.

Had a sample of this at Winterfest.
A- Pours a darker black color. One finger tan head shows medium retention before dying off. Nice light sheeting style lacing with this beer.
S- Roasted malts give way to a distinct coffee aroma. Although this is mostly coffee forward in the nose there is a brown sugar like sweetness in the nose as well. Some more roasted malts in the ending of the aroma with hints of dark chocolate as well.
T- Coffee forward in the front. This turns into a roasted malt flavor by the middle of the beer. Some light burnt sugary notes toward the middle. The ending of the beer has more of that dark baker's chocolate which lends to this beers light bitterness.
M- Medium light mouthfeel. Carbonation was good for the style. Light coffee notes with darker chocolate are left on the palate. Aftertaste is mostly light alcohol, roasted malts, and darker chocolate. Flavors were well balanced for the style and no off flavors were present at all. Light alcohol drying on the palate.
D- Holy shit this beer is not only good but really drinkable. Nothing too over the top heavy like a lot of stouts are. The ABV is low enough that you could drink this all night long. Glad to have gotten the chance to try it.

(On-tap at Red Lion Grog House) Poured an excellent deep black with very excellent tan head and lacing throughouth. Very nice deep and creamy aroma, roasty and sweet at the same time. Nice roasted grain flavors, with a very nice decent oatmeal sweet/creaminess to it, with a nice little hit of hops at the end. Goes down well, a very nice oatmeal stout.

Poured black with very a little amber showing through when held to the light.
Malt smells of fresh baking chocolate and brown sugar.
Tastes immediately of dark chocolate, bitter aftertaste with hints of smokiness.
Creamy feel. Good but minimal carbonation.
Personally, a fine beer overall and not too alcoholic. I will definitely be enjoying the rest after dinner.

poured from a growler I picked up at the brewery about 3 hours ago.
Pours a very dark brown, almost black with a nice medium to dark brown head that clings to the sides of the glass. Coffee is very prominent in the nose, as are roasted malts and a hint of brown sugar. Tastes are coffe at the front followed by some burnt sugar and almost a dark chicolate finish. Mouthfeel is really good, pretty thick for 5% and drinkability is high.

grabbed at the brewery about a week ago.
poured cold and near black from the growler to a standard pint glass with a full finger, short lasting foamy tan head with minimal retention.
great big chocolatey aroma, with a hint of smoke and espresso.
sweet milk chocolate, roasted malts, sweetened espresso, and hints of smokiness in the wayback.
creamy and smooth, lighter bodied than expected, also higher carbonation than expected for the style.
drinkable - at 5% and light bodied, this one is very drinkable.
another thumbs up for sun king
