I'm a n00b to homebrewing, but I stopped by here a few weeks ago to get a few supplies for my first batch. The employee working the store was extremely helpful and addressed all of my questions and went as far as printing out some additional paperwork for me to get me started. As I said, I'm new to brewing, but it definitely appeared to me that the store had a great selection of products and equipment. I've seen others mention that they will custom order supplies as well, which could be a huge plus if needed. Only one experience, but based on the way it turned out for me I'd definitely shop there again. They have a homebrewing class on Weds(?) nights also, which is probably unique I'd imagine...

This is my local homebrew supply store. The owner is knowledgeable and hours of operation are convenient. If he doesnt have it, he can or will get it. I used to have to drive to the other side of town for supplies, this is a little closer and usually on my way somewhere. Shop is a little small but only because its crammed full of homebrew and wine/cider making supplies. Also helpfull is the recipe board so if your not sure of what your brewing, you can pick one and the ingredients right there. Good selection of Hops (keaf and pellet) and also liquid and dry yeasts of a wide variety. In Louisville there are only 2 supply shops, and a couple of big liquor stores that carry supplies, but I will drive out of my way to buy here.

It's a relief to not have to drive out to the East side for brewing supplies anymore. In addition, the selection is about as good with pricing that compares favorably with online vendors, after shipping is factored in. Paul stocks a full selection of base and specialty malts, extracts, equipment for wine and beer making, yeasts (including White Labs and Wyeast), whole and pellet hops, and wine concentrates. Open on Sundays- big plus. Classes on brewing- big plus. Will special order stuff, too. It's small, but very neat and orderly. Excellent resource for the HIghland and downtown home brewers. Discount for brew club members.

Ran into owner Paul Young at the Beer Wars movie. He was handing out flyers to promote his new homebrew store. Paul actively participates in the local microbrew scene. The store is represented at the BBC Taproom and at local homebrew club events. The store offers brewing demonstrations on Wednesday nights. The introduction to extract brewing is very good opportunity to educate yourself on the process. Paul also ties in the items available for sale into the demo, so new brewers can get an idea of how to use the equipment. Very good selection of extracts, grains, hops and yeast. Very smart selection of basic brewing equipment, but has some advanced items (e.g., kegging equipment) at very reasonable prices. The building is awesome for a homebrew store, but is a little difficult to find if you're not familiar with Louisville. As a visitor from out-of-town, I didn't buy any equipment, but I did get my "homebrew fix" while in Louisville. If you're an aspiring homebrewer, of if your already obsessed, get out and support the local homebrew shop.
