First time I went in, my friend and I chatted about rare beer with Mike (one of the owners) for almost an hour. Service is excellent - incredibly friendly, and they are always up to speed on what's coming down the line from distributors. Affordable glassware. Frequent tastings/samplings as well. The downer is that they're in NH and therefore subject to a limited selection from distributors compared with the surrounding states - but you can't fault the owners for that. However, they do carry everything available in NH, and the staff knowledge and service go a along way in keeping customers coming back. Keep up the good work boys!
EDIT: Under new ownership as of 1/4/13.

I loved this place for the selection... but they over charged me for a beer by x2 ($15.99 instead of $7.50) and when I brought this up on my next visit, they said sorry they couldn't do anything for me. So I don't go there any more. Sucks for me cause their selection is so good.

It's a craft beer store tucked into a proper convenience store. I couldn't possibly enjoy the owners, Mike and Steven, any more than I do. They're incredibly knowledgeable, wholly informative, and fun guys. I seriously would go there just to chat with them about beer for a while. They keep people apprised of their latest releases, and things that are new, or are coming to the state via conversation in-store, or on facebook. They cater to everybody, offer thoughtful suggestions, and share stories because they're involved in the scene too. When I go in there, I learn what owning a business is supposed to be about, and I leave with delicious beer every time.

Never in my wildest dreams would I have ever expected a beer store selling this quality to open up in of all places Somersworth. As a kid here in the 80's this use to be a Laverdia's drug store where I would buy fishing poles and bb's for my air gun, imagine that.
Be it as it may, this is a quality beer shop with great customer service. Watching the BMC move steadily down the cooler line replaced with high end craft beers has been a pleasure over a short time. Mike and Steven are the beer brothers here so if you have questions ask for them by name and they'll provide you with top notch service.
The shelves are pretty much stocked with whatever NH has to offer which is improving by the day. Firestone Walker, Lagunitas, North Coast, Sierra Nevada, Southern Tier, Brooklyn Brewery, Oscar Blues, Dogfish Head, Sierra Nevada, Brooklyn Brewery along with all of the local treats can be found perusing the floor.
It should be noted you must pay with cash here and it's ok with me because it keeps the prices down. An ATM is close by so don't sweat it. Also keep an eye out for their special price deals when their moving out of season product, it can be a bargain. I'm told the reason they don't except credit cards is to keep the cigarette prices low. Prior to a beer shop they were known as cigarette city so those customers are still treated with a certain amount of respect.
Keep up the good work guy's. I look forward to watching the store grow as more craft brewers trickle in to our fine state.
Unfortunately now their getting busted for allegedly selling bath salts illegally. I won't be going back anytime soon..

Used to live right around the corner but never went in. Definitely my loss. Looks much better inside than out. Clean and well organized. Selection is very good for the area. Spoke to one of the kids working there, very friendly and helpful. Pointed out a couple of new additions and offered recommendations without being pushy. He explained that their goal is to carry everything that's allowed in the state. I did find the Firestone Walker Double Jack that has just started appearing in NH.
Only real downside is that they are cash only, so plan ahead. They do have an ATM there (with a fee), but no credit cards can be a pain.

Great little gem inside of a general store. You wouldn't expect such a good selection and knowledgable service from the outside appearance, especially for locals who used to know this place as "Cigarette City."
For me, its an instant thumbs up when the number of coolers of craft and imports outnumber the coolers full of AB and the like. I'm going off of memory, but I think it might be something like 6 or 7 to 4.
Great selection here, and one of the two brothers who handle the beer selection are almost always on hand, and more than willing to take time to talk about what's new in the store and make recomendations based on your preferences. They appear to work hard to carry new items as they become available in NH.
Prices are fair, definitely cheaper than I have seen at similar places in Maine, and there is nothing with as strong a selection within a 15-mile radius. They often have blow-out prices on out-of-season flavors and brewery overstock.

I am fortunate to live about a half a mile from The Village Market and have been a customer for aver 2 years now. As a home brewer I am always looking for good beers and Steven and Mike know their stuff. These guys are excited about good beer! Also, they really take pride in being able to offer local stuff like the mead from Moonlight Meadery in Londenderry, NH and very small batch specialty beers from White Birch brewing in Hooksett, NH. Don't be deterred by the mom and pop feel of the place when you first walk in, just head toward the back and you will see a vast array of beer coolers offering every beer that NH will allow in. Unfortunately, there is a pretty tight cap on the ABV that can be sold in NH for beer but these guys make sure to get what they can.
Make sure to look for them on facebook for updates on what is coming off the truck and check in with them about tastings which are typically on Fridays. I have not had the opportunity to attend a tasting yet as I work every Friday evening, bummer...

Talk about a worth while trip. Was recommended this place by a local bartender/server at Pepperland Cafe. Walking in seems as if it's solely a convenience store but as we approached the back coolers, I was immediately happy.
Great selection, various imported and limited release 750ml, great seasonal selections, as well as those hard-to-come-by four and six packs.
At first my friend and I had difficult time making up our minds, but one of the staff members was able to help us out. Very personable, willing to shoot the shit and be a down to earth beer proprietor. So many beer markets have the right selection, but having someone that's knowledgeable is key.
I'll be back for sure!

Went up just looking for something new. Asked one question and the clerk answered it and many others that came after. Recommended three brews, all of which were well worth the trip.
Happy it was recommended to me. I love a place where the clerks know there product and will share their excitement over good beer with customers.
It has one of the finest selections in NH. And while their are closer places with large selections, they have forgotten customer service. And are selling beer solely as a business with no passion for the product.

Not a bad place to shop as a back up to my other beer shops.
The selection is decent and the staff are somewhat knowledgeable if you happen to catch the right person on, yet they don't seem very personable.
I understand to an extent, but not accepting credit and doing cash only has got to be a downer. Like I said, this is a back up for me, so if I do have to go here, I prepare for it and bring cash, but it can be a downfall.
The prices seem reasonable for the area, but you can find cheaper close by.
